Good luck to all those preparing and taking MFL speaking exams at this time. They're not like any other exam you will take and they are the first exams of the season.
Speaking exams can be scary, but you've got this! Trust the work you have done, take a deep breath, and give it a good go!

As exam season approaches I have heard about a growing trend of social media accounts and websites offering 2025 exams papers or predicted papers.
Any account purporting to sell the 2025 exams papers is a scam.
Only the exam boards have the papers which will be kept be under lock and key. I know that this is a stressful time and it would be lovely to know exactly what will be on the exams, but these accounts are only trying to make money on students' vulnerability at this time.
Regarding predicted papers, take care with those too. Whilst they maybe be a useful revision tool, please bear in mind that no one has a crystal ball and whilst predictions are made every year as to what will come up they are not always accurate.
Take care of your mental health during this time, revise well and rest well too, and if you need any support with English or French do feel free to contact me here or by email: [email protected]

Revision and a cinema trip?
Studying Macbeth for English?
Why not consider going to see Macbeth in the cinema this February with David Tennant and Cush Jumbo. Take the opportunity to watch a version of the play so you can revise the plot. It will also give perfect opportunity for you to think about the EFFECT of certain scenes or director choices on you as a viewer!! (How did it make you feel, what do you think Shakespeare was trying to say?) You can then take this and use it in your essays. For more info check out the official website for it, here:
Macbeth: David Tennant & Cush Jumbo in cinemas | In cinemas worldwide from 5 February 2025
Get tickets for Macbeth: David Tennant & Cush Jumbo in cinemas on the official site. In cinemas worldwide from February 5, 2025.

Sound familiar?
In English language and literature exams just explaining what a quote means and retelling the story won't get you very far into the marks.
So tell us why...
..the author/poet/playwright used a certain technique and what effect it creates.
..why a reader/audience might be led to feel a certain way.

Thinking of all Educators and Students on this World Mental Health Day, particularly as this year's theme is "It is time to Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace."
Being part of education institutions is stressful on both sides. It's always ok to prioritise mental health:
-Practise self awareness and recognise how you are feeling.
-Talk to trusted friend, colleague, family member about how you feel.
-Prioritise self care through meditation, doing exercise, connecting with your surroundings and nature, & staying hydrated.
-Recognise if it's too much and reach out. It's the hardest step, I know, but you won't regret it. Talk to someone close to you, or consider one of these organisations for support:
For urgent mental health support call 111 and select option 2.
Samaritans: 116 123 (24hrs a day)
Mind: 0300 102 1234 (9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday (except bank holidays).
CALM: 0800 58 58 58 (5pm–midnight every day) if you're affected by su***de or suicidal thoughts.
SANEline: 0300 304 7000 (4.30pm–10pm every day) For those struggling with mental health and those supporting them.
Prefer not to talk? Many of these services offer a webchat, or you can contact Shout who offer 24/7 text support by texting SHOUT to 85258.

The struggle to learn genders in French is real. Unlike other romance languages, there are no hard and fast rules to learn to be able to determine genders of nouns in French.
There are some general patterns but they are not always helpful. For example 70% of nouns ending in -e are feminine. But what about the other 30% I hear you cry. It is indeed the lament of many a French learner. I mean just look at this guy.
See how I can help you with your French learning journey, email [email protected].

Happy European Day of languages! Language shows unity in its diversity and is the key that unlocks cultures. It's great that we celebrate all the languages of our continent
Did you know that French is the official language in 29 countries?
And that Shakespeare added over 1,700 to the English language?
