Mrs Sacks was one of just 65 teachers selected to take part in the UK Parliament Teacher Training Programme at the Houses of Parliament for three days (and what a week to choose!).

Over the course of the programme, she learned about the role of the House of Commons; the House of Lords; a constitutional monarchy and most importantly, how to encourage young people to become engaged in politics.

Mrs Sacks was fortunate enough to meet Baroness Shah, the Speaker of the House Rt Hon Lindsay Hoyle, our local MP Iain Duncan-Smith, as well as many other MPs and members of the Lords.

An invaluable experience that will undoubtedly enrich learning and inspire our pupils to engage thoughtfully with the world of politics.

Young Enterprise is a Year 6 project which develops entrepreneurial skills and brings the whole school together for a really fun morning. The younger pupils enjoyed visiting the stalls and choosing what activity to spend their tokens on, it’s not every day you get to tip a bucket of water over a Year 6 pupil! £1,758 was raised and will be split evenly between GOSH, Essex Wildlife Trust and Smiles with Grace. Well done Year 6!

Year 1 enjoyed a visit to Southend Pier on Thursday as part of their Victorian holidays topic, exploring seaside traditions first-hand. The pupils loved the train ride along the pier and their ice creams later on! In true British fashion, the weather didn’t let us down!

STEAM Fortnight took off with an aviation theme, and our pupils immersed themselves in hands-on activities including coding drones, building LEGO robots, designing planes and launching rockets.

Year 6 added a business twist with their aviation stock market, and the paper airplane competition was a big hit!

We also loved hearing from a real aviation engineer and watching some fantastic class assemblies, including a look back at Concorde and a great performance from 3B.

A big thank you to our staff, especially Mrs Beer, the PTA, and everyone who helped make it happen!

Year 5 enjoyed a vibrant day of creativity through stop motion animation, puppetry, performing arts and a high-energy stomp workshop.

We were delighted to welcome pupils from St Antony’s and Ray Lodge, who joined us for this collaborative experience. Throughout the day, pupils explored new ways to express themselves, worked together, and brought their ideas to life.

Thank you to everyone who led such inspiring workshops - Hal Chambers, Carl Smith, Vivian Chiehyun and Arabella Tish (also an Old Red). Their expertise and energy made the day such a success.

Year 1 proudly presented their shoebox animal habitats from around the world, showing thoughtful and creative work that really considered the needs of each animal. They were so inviting a few live insects were spotted exploring 🐞🌿

The Greeks are this year’s Sports Day champions!

With scores neck and neck right up until the final race, every point was hard fought and thoroughly deserved.

From the first event to the final relay, the energy and encouragement across all houses made this day a true highlight of the sporting calendar.

As part of our STEAM Fortnight, themed around Aviation, pupils had the exciting opportunity to operate drones. Earlier in the week, they also heard from an expert about airspace and the technology involved in airport security.

They absolutely loved the chance to take control and experience what it’s like to fly a drone, navigating the busy “airspace” of the gym with confidence!

Thank you to our Foundation One parents who joined us this morning for a maths carousel with our little learners.

It was a wonderful opportunity to share how early mathematical understanding is nurtured through play, exploration, and hands-on challenges. From counting and sorting to pattern recognition, the session highlighted the foundations that support confident, curious learners.

We loved welcoming you into the classroom and hope you enjoyed seeing first-hand how we bring maths to life.
