Story Bazaar: Mangoes on the Beach with Peter Chand 29/07/2026

Remember to get your tickets folks. 9th August. Having shared this story all across the UK and as far afield as Toronto, Kozani in Greece, Oslo, Galway and other places- my parents story is coming home to the city they travelled to from Punjab. Biographical experiences of caste, migration, division, hope and the ties that bind a family through it all are interwoven with four beautiful and evocative Indian folktales. A story as old as time and as current as ever. Hope to see some of you there. Peace PC ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ

Tonight at 22.00 Greek time. So excited to be kicking off the festival with The State of Water- with my amazing fellow storyteller and co-creator the one and only Kirsten Milliken Storyteller. Indo/Scottish stories of mermen, apsaras, curses, and blessings from the nagas who live beneath the water. Thrilled to be back on the beautiful Greek island of Kea to share tales from our cultures.

20 Years a Teller. Thoughts:
Not always easy being full-time self-employed, and the financial uncertainty may not be for everyone (unless you are lucky enough to have a partner with a good job, a trust fund, substantial pension fund, or other form of income)
I really wouldn't change it for anything though. It was the best decision I made giving up my job in Retail Management in 2026, flogging Playstations and X Boxes.
I think often about an older friend at the time who lectured in college and was constantly complaining about work, the system, colleagues, and everything under the sun. Yet he stayed put; miserable, working out his pension. He advised me to not give up the day job. So glad I never listened to him. I didn't want to be that person in my older years, and glad I'm not. You need self-belief, integrity and toughness to make it out there as a creative Freelancer. And if clients keep coming back and recommending you to others, it's the best job in world! Which I'm very grateful that they do ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ

We did it. I think this has been my favourite storytelling experience of the year so far. Proud to have been involved in making the first Unity Picnic happen with the brilliant partnership of Chaplaincy Dept - Uni of Wolverhampton. Standing up to division, hatred and bigotry through
Artists provided their time and skills for free by giving us Indian folktales, an Irish legend, bhangra dancing, Rumi poetry, sax mixed with tabla and lots more. We danced, ate together, laughed and were fortunate enough to have had visiting students from India join us and make the day even better. Thank you everyone. More to come- We stand together. We stay vigilant. We get creative. ๐Ÿ™๐ŸพโœŠ๐Ÿฝ๐ŸคŽ

Some pretty cool festivals and events coming up both domestically and across the water. Can't wait to share stories on the stunning island of Kea in Greece in July, and also at the Cape Clear Island International Storytelling Festival in Ireland in September. But before that there will be Story Bazaar at Wolverhampton Arts Centre with the brilliant Laura Sampson this month, and also the Forgotten Lands festival in Cumbria working alongside the superb Kirsten Milliken Storyteller, plus we'll be sharing Roses are Dead in June in Lichfield . Let the storytelling adventures commence. ๐ŸคŽโœŠ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ
