This week, Amethyst Academies Trust had the pleasure of hosting our very first English Subject Conference. This event saw colleagues from across our five schools come together to network, collaborate, and celebrate some incredible achievements from the last academic year. Inclusion and curriculum accessibility was the golden thread of this year's Conference with an aligned focus on adaptive and responsive teaching and learning to remove barriers and to ensure that every Amethyst student achieves, regardless of their starting point.

Building success in every classroom

Maths teachers from Moreton School Aldersley High Telford Park School and Penn Hall School came together this week for the first of our Subject Conferences this term, sharing ideas and leaving with practical strategies for the classroom tomorrow.

Great things happen when our schools learn from each other, and there are two more subject conferences still to come over the next few weeks.

We're hiring: Finance Assistant.

We're looking for a detail-focused Finance Assistant to join our central finance team, working across our special schools with one day each week based at Moreton School. It's a chance to be part of a values-driven trust where your contribution truly matters.

What a night for Aldersley High School - and what a night for our Trust family!

At this week's Wolverhampton Connect Ed Physical Education City Awards, Aldersley High School picked up not one, not two, but three incredible honours.

Aldersley were named Inclusive School of the Year, recognising their commitment to supporting City events through Connect Ed, their participation across a wide range of sports, and the enriching opportunities provided through their enrichment programme and Aldersley Active.

They also received their School Games Platinum Award plaque, reflecting their continued dedication to providing high-quality PE, sport and physical activity for all students.

And to top it all off, Mr Jones was presented with the Outstanding Contribution Award 2026 - a deeply deserved personal recognition of his unwavering commitment to Physical Education and the positive impact he has made on students, colleagues and the wider Wolverhampton teaching community.

We are incredibly proud of everyone at Aldersley High School. This is what the Amethyst family is all about.

What a year for Duke of Edinburgh across Amethyst Academies Trust!

From mid-March through to the end of term, 16 expeditions have gone out from Aldersley High School and Moreton School, with around 400 students from Years 9, 10 and 12 - including students from the Ladder Centre - completing their Bronze, Silver and Gold practice and assessed expeditions.

Bronze students tackled Cannock Chase and the Long Mynd. Silver students took on Cannock Chase, the Long Mynd and the Stiperstones. And our Gold students are heading to the Peak District from 6th to 9th July.

Virtually every student has passed their expedition section - an incredible achievement. There was even a week of torrential rain for Moreton Year 10 in June, and they got through it with tremendous resilience and a great attitude.

A huge thank you to Mr Grimshaw and every member of staff who has given their time to make these experiences possible. You have made a real difference.

The adventure continues after summer, with Year 12 Gold heading to the Brecon Beacons and Moreton completing their final Bronze and Silver expeditions at the Long Mynd. We cannot wait.

What a way to end the week.

On Friday, our Quality of Education and Reading Leads came together at Moreton School for a Trust-wide Development Day - and it was exactly what great professional development looks like.

Leaders from across Amethyst spent the day reflecting on the impact of this year, exploring our updated Literacy Strategy, and aligning priorities for 2026-27. From reading provision and quality assurance to teaching and learning and school improvement planning, every conversation was focused on one thing - improving outcomes for our pupils.

What stood out most was the generosity of colleagues in sharing expertise and the genuine commitment to working together. Aligned in our vision, empowered in our practice, and united in our commitment to excellence.

We are well placed for another brilliant year ahead.
