Children struggle to control their own emotions. It’s something we all learn as we grow up. When they are big emotions this can lead to some or all of the above.

Classrooms have 1 teacher and maybe a support person. Sometimes, until a child shows the above the teacher doesn’t know what’s bubbling under the surface. The outcome is ‘bad’ behaviour by the child which may lead to consequences which the child sees as unfair and pushes back against. This makes the situation worse. The child feels unsupported and unloved at school. School feel they have done all they can to help and keep other children safe and engaged in their learning. The child doesn’t want to go back to school.
This is just one scenario. It doesn’t just apply to children with additional or sensory needs. Some children just struggle to cope. Some children have experienced trauma at an early age (parents may not even know). Some children just feel safer at home.

We want to meet parents (and children) and find out how we can help! Do you want to meet other parents in your situation? Do you both feel isolated?
Do you want us to talk to school? Does your child need a mentor? Counsellor? Does your child need to spend time with other children to stop feeling so isolated?
