Despite the intermittent sun and relentless rain we’re currently experiencing, May is a powerhouse month for gardeners. It marks the end of frost in the Northern Hemisphere and allows for planting of hardy and half-hardy crops.
Named for the Greek goddess Maia (who symbolised nurturing and fertility), it is a time of maximum growth, with long days allowing direct sowing of vegetables, while flowers like foxgloves and hawthorn bloom.

Love a day like today when I get a chance to explore my creativity by putting together some 'mood boards' for a new customer. Rich hues and lots of texture will really add interest and depth to this garden!

So it’s been 4 years since we lost my younger brother Angus, we always use Blue bells as a memory prompt as we used to pick them for our mum as little boys. Sonny and I were just having a moment and a smile earlier and remembering happier times. *thappens

Did you know...?
Camassia bulbs were a major food staple for many North American Indigenous peoples (such as the Nez Perce and Blackfoot tribes) and were famously crucial to the survival of the Lewis and Clark expedition, providing a sweet, roasted food source. Warning: While edible and nutritious (similar to a sweet potato when roasted), Camassia is frequently confused with the deadly toxic "Death Camas" (Toxicoscordion venenosum), which grows in the same areas!

We're busy sketching out the initial concept for our latest project in Aldridge. This open space has to accommodate a very large new garden room, plenty of outdoor seating, a pergola walk, and have a formal planting scheme.
Here at Andi Way Garden Design, we love a challenge - why not give us a call or drop us an email and let us create a beautiful garden you'll love?!

Often an early indicator that spring is on the way, did you know that, despite its delicate appearance, the tête-à-tête is one of the most robust daffodils in existence?
It was first bred in the early 20th century and has since become the best-selling dwarf daffodil in the world, largely because it is so easy to "force" into early bloom for indoor displays during February.

So mum left us 25 years ago now, she hated the idea of me and motorbikes. When I was given the opportunity to volunteer for I immediately thought of her, she loved what did and always supported them. It seemed fitting to honour her memory by giving something back for her and the connection is obvious. So I am giving my day back to her today on a bloodbike and shall be remembering what she gave me.
