🦉 This week, some of our students visited Brandon Marsh and took part in a practical session on owl pellet dissection to explore food chains. By carefully dissecting Barn Owl pellets, they were able to identify the remains of animals the owl had eaten, discovering skulls, bones and even the legs of a bird !

📚✨ Celebrating World Book Day ! ✨📚

Some of our talented students designed a Frozen inspired outfit using a variety of materials to transform one of our mentors Becca into Elsa. The resemblance is truly uncanny, don’t you think? ❄️

Over the last couple of weeks, groups of our students have been volunteering at 5 Acre Community Farm, where locally grown, seasonal vegetables are produced to support people in our community alongside two local food aid organisations. 🌱
Our students have been learning about growing and harvesting parsnips and carrots, as well as helping to clear an area of land to prepare for even more produce to be grown.
We’re excited to be continuing this project moving forward, helping our students develop valuable life skills while also supporting the local community around us. 💚

Our Christmas Community Hamper project was a huge success, with the majority of hampers delivered before the Christmas break. A small number remain to be delivered to people we were unable to reach, these will be delivered in the new year. We have received such heart-warming feedback from those who were kindly nominated, which truly makes all the hard work worthwhile.

As we close our doors for the Christmas break, our students enjoyed a festive Christmas dinner prepared by our very own Karen, known to the students as Kaz’s Café.

It was the perfect way to round off the year.
We hope everyone has a restful and joyful break, and we can’t wait to welcome you all back in 2026. 🎄✨

TREAT SOMEONE SPECIAL

As promised, the students at Ignition will be sending out Christmas hampers to people in the local village who deserve a special treat, but we need your help to choose who those special people should be.
Please use the nomination form linked below, or the email address on the poster, to send in your nomination. As we only have a limited number of hampers, we’ll be using the nominations to help us decide who will receive one.
Please spread the word throughout the community so we can make a few more people smile this Christmas.
We’re also still looking for local businesses willing to support us with donations for the hampers. Any help you can offer would be hugely appreciated.

Hi everyone,

Our students have been working on a small Christmas project and would love to give back to our local community. They’ve decided to create Christmas hampers for people in Wolston village, but we need a little help to make this possible.

If any local businesses are able to contribute donations for the hampers, we would be incredibly grateful. We kindly ask that donations be submitted by 11th December, so we can deliver the hampers during the last week of term.

Later this week, we will also share a nomination form for anyone who would like to put someone forward to receive a hamper.

We have several students at Ignition who are passionate about motorbikes, and today some were lucky enough to attend the Motorcycle Live show in Birmingham! They enjoyed an action-packed day filled with learning, thrilling motorbike displays, and the opportunity to sit on some of the latest models in production. Our students were fantastic throughout the day and returned home not only with plenty of goodies but also with unforgettable experiences.
