By tapping into children’s interests, we’re able to better connect with them and engage them for longer – giving them the best possible chance of excelling. We’re really proud to share our 2025/26 Storyy Education Impact Report 🌟

Throughout the last academic year, our teams across the South East and South Central supported 188 children and young people, each with their own experiences, strengths and goals.

There’s so much to celebrate!

📚 1,006 AQA Units completed
🎓 11 Functional Skills qualifications achieved
📈 156 young people improved their attendance by 10% or more
🏫 32 successful reintegrations into mainstream education
🌱 36 transitions into specialist provision
💼 Plus young people moving on to college, apprenticeships and employment.

Of course, progress doesn’t always come with a certificate or a statistic.

Sometimes it’s reading aloud in front of others for the first time, joining a group session, travelling independently or simply beginning to feel more confident about learning again.

Our new Impact Report celebrates all of it, along with the young people, families, schools, Local Authorities, professionals and Storyy teams who have been part of the journey.

Looking back at a brilliant end to the school year at Storyybrook 🎪

Our circus-themed Fun Day brought together so many of the things our young people enjoy, with face painting, arts and crafts, hook a duck, an inflatable obstacle course and plenty more to get involved in throughout the day.

Young people made their way around the different activities, collecting tickets along the way which they could exchange for a prize to take home.

One of our favourite moments had to be hearing one young person say, "I am having the best day!" Sometimes that says everything you need to know about how much the day was enjoyed.

This video captures just some of the fun, laughter and smiles from the day. A huge thank you to our amazing Storyybrook team for putting so much effort into making the end of the school year such a memorable one for our young people 👏

Before the summer holidays, our young people enjoyed stepping back in time and exploring the world of Vikings, alongside discovering more about the incredible world of insects ⚔️

During their Viking topic, young people learned about Viking warriors, longships, gods, myths and explorers. They brought their learning to life by creating cardboard helmets, Viking shields and longships, as well as taking part in word searches and scavenger hunts.

The insect topic gave young people plenty of opportunities to get creative too. From making insects with playdough and learning about the butterfly life cycle to building minibeast habitats from recycled materials and heading outside to search for insects, there was lots to discover 🐝

Alongside learning about two very different topics, the activities supported young people to practise their fine motor skills, problem-solving, focus and creativity in an engaging and hands-on way.

A throwback to some outdoor fun at our Birch Hill site 🏹

Our young people got stuck into a game of archery, giving them the opportunity to practise their focus, coordination and patience while enjoying some time together outside.

They also put their creativity to work, using natural materials such as tree bark to create their own crafts and see what they could make from the environment around them 🍃

A great example of how trying something different can help young people develop new skills, build confidence and enjoy learning beyond the classroom.

Progress looks different for every young person, and that's something worth celebrating 🎉

One of the young people at our Berkshire Alternative Provision recently shared what their time at Storyy has meant to them, and their feedback really made us smile.

Since joining Storyy, they've become less anxious, feel more confident, can focus on tasks with the right support and have learned to reflect on different situations.

When we asked them to describe Storyy in just three words, they chose:

✨ Able to be myself
✨ Reassured

They also told us how much they've enjoyed learning special effects makeup and having a mentor who listens, understands and is always there to support them.

Seeing young people feel happier, more confident and comfortable being themselves is why we do what we do. Every step forward, no matter how big or small, is something to be proud of!

A huge congratulations to two of our brilliant Storyy Education mentors, Gaynor Gibson and Sydni Alford, who took on the challenge of climbing Mount Snowdon on Saturday to raise money for Cancer Research ⛰️

The cause is particularly close to their hearts, with both Gaynor and Sydni having loved ones who have been affected by cancer.

We're incredibly proud of them both for taking on such a challenge and using it as an opportunity to raise money and awareness for a cause that means so much to them. What an achievement! 👏

What does it really mean to prepare a young person for independent living?

For young people aged 16+, the journey towards independence is about much more than learning practical life skills. It’s about building confidence, developing resilience and having trusted adults who are there to offer guidance every step of the way.

Supported Accommodation provides young people with the opportunity to develop the skills they need for adulthood in a safe, stable and supportive environment. Whether it's learning to manage a budget, preparing meals, maintaining a home or building confidence to take the next step into education, employment or training, every achievement helps lay the foundations for a brighter future.

Sometimes the simplest activities create some of the best opportunities for learning ✂️

Before the summer holidays, young people at our Finchampstead site took some of our mentors back to their childhoods by creating their very own chatterboxes.

This time, the young people became the teachers, using reverse mentoring to show staff exactly how they were made. There was even some healthy competition to see who could create the smallest one!

While everyone had plenty of fun, the activity also gave young people the opportunity to practise their focus, fine motor skills, communication and ability to give and follow instructions. It was also a great way to build confidence when speaking within a group and strengthen relationships with others.

The creativity continued as they went on to make their own 'big mouth' props ready to use in a play 🎭

A brilliant example of how learning, creativity and relationship building can come together through even the simplest of activities.

For many young people, the journey towards independence starts with having the right support around them.

At Storyy Group, our Supported Accommodation (16+) gives young people a safe and supportive place to build the skills they'll need for adult life. From learning how to manage a home and budget their money to preparing for education, employment or training, we're there to support them every step of the way.

Every young person is different, so we tailor our support around their individual goals, helping them develop confidence, independence and the skills they need for the future!

Learning the skills needed for independence happens through everyday experiences 🥣

One of the young people in our Supported Accommodation (16+) was challenged to find a healthy, filling and cost effective lunch that could be made in bulk and frozen for another day.

After researching different options, they chose to make French onion soup with homemade bread. They found the recipes, selected the ingredients and got to work, preparing the bread from scratch before chopping and sautéing the onions for the soup.

The finished result went down brilliantly, with staff and other young people having a taste and sharing plenty of compliments.

It was great to see the pride they took in what they had achieved while developing valuable skills around cooking, meal planning and preparing food independently ⭐

The bread was such a success that they're already thinking about their next challenge: homemade sourdough!
