Wednesday 9th September - 2.45pm

Please come and join us for a hot drink and a browse of our range of second-hand school uniform.

We know that the cost of school uniform can quickly add up, especially when children grow so fast. We would like to offer families the opportunity to pick up any items they may need for the term ahead, helping to make uniform a little more affordable for families.

By choosing second-hand uniform, we can also help to reduce waste and look after our environment by giving good-quality school clothing a second life.

There will be a donation pot available on a ‘pay as you feel’ basis, with all donations going directly towards supporting our school.

We look forward to welcoming you!

Staff and pupils of St Aidan's CiW VA School are so grateful to all the families for joining them today for their sports day. It was a lovely morning with everyone joining in - lots of smiles and laughter! The weather was so kind, and the children all tried hard and partipiated so well. Many thanks to the PTA for their very welcome bacon rolls and ice creams.

Thanks to a grant from the Welsh Government we have been able to have an outdoor community room in our grounds. This is a huge bonus for the school and means that we can not only extend our outdoor learning but also host community events.
The children have been using it to the story of Jonah and the big fish, talking about the importance of forgiveness and reflecting on the story.
We are so grateful to the school PTA for funding so many of the resources and we are sure to be using a lot and making full use of the outdoors while welcoming in our community.

The hot weather last week reminded us that it was summer and so when we cooled down, we played Cricket and Rounders in the Small Schools Tournament in Cosheston. It was such a fun morning and winning nearly all their matches certainly added to the day!

What do you do when you have visited organic farms and tried different herbs and vegetables? Ask Ein Cegin CIC tto come to school and cook some fabulaous meals! Thanks to the visit from Ein Cegin CIC, the children made coleslaw with raw beetroot, courgette fritters with broad beans and feta, flat breads, a minty raita and a dressed salad. Yummy!

Following on from such an informative visit to Cilrath Acre, the children from Dosbarth y Mynydd visited Underwood Organic Farm. The children harvested broad beans, rainbow chard and planted many rows of leeks ready for harvesting later in the year. many of the vegetable that Underwood farm grown end up on the plates of children in Pembrokeshire Schools. A fantastic way to see field to fork in action!

Success!
Eco Schools Second Green Flag Award.
Year 6 met with Bethan Phillips last week who assessed us on our work in school over the last 2 years. She covered the following areas:
• Waste
• ⁠biodiversity
• ⁠school grounds
• ⁠health, wellbeing and food
• ⁠global citizenship
• ⁠transport
• ⁠water
• ⁠energy
• ⁠litter
Bethan was impressed with all of the work the children had done - she was amazed at all they had achieved being a small school, and the experiences they have had.
She complimented the children on their work in reducing energy use and food waste as part of their work with Jen from Awel Aman Tawe Hwb y Gors.
She commented on our school grounds and how beautifully they are kept, with the wildlife areas, pond and our new bug hotel, bird boxes and our wonderful outdoor classroom.

Bethan assesses schools across Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire and said we are
among the best she has seen 🥳
The whole of Y Llais should feel very proud of themselves!
