☠️👸Pirates and Princess👸☠️

The children have thoroughly enjoyed engaging in imaginative role-play as pirates, princes, and princesses, while designing and creating their own crowns and exploring a variety of shapes. A range of exciting treasure-hunting activities has encouraged teamwork, problem-solving, and communication skills. The children have also demonstrated excellent creativity and imagination through the use of soft play boats, puzzles, and storytelling resources, which have supported them in creating their own fun and adventurous narratives.

👨‍🍳Cooking Week👩‍🍳

This week, the children have taken part in a variety of cooking activities, exploring different ingredients, smells, and tastes. They also practised good hygiene routines while baking, developing their understanding of the importance of cleanliness and safety in food preparation.

The children further extended their learning through a range of activities linked to our cooking theme. These included practising letter formation and colour recognition, as well as engaging in imaginative role play through their very own “Bears Café.” The children took turns writing menus, taking orders, and serving a variety of delicious pretend dishes, helping to develop their communication, literacy, and social skills.

Over the last few weeks, we focused on the theme of growth, development and seasons. The children explored this concept through activities related to animals, the human body, and the wider environment. They participated in a variety of learning experiences, including measuring distances and comparing heights, developing number recognition and counting skills, learning the names of different animals, and designing their own flowers to encourage creativity and understanding of the natural world.

🐛🦋🐸 Life cycles 🐸🦋🐛

This week, we have been learning about life cycles. Our focus has also included mathematics, where the children have been counting frogs, exploring different sizes while building bug houses, counting caterpillars, and learning about symmetry at the art table.

We were very excited to discover a bird’s nest in our garden shed. We took photos and talked with the children about the importance of being quiet and gentle when visiting the shed. We will continue to observe from a distance as we wait and watch for the eggs to progress.

Climbing Bears will be closed for the next two weeks for the Easter break and will reopen on Monday, 13th April.

What a busy and exciting few weeks we’ve had as we come to the end of term!

Spring has truly arrived at Bears, bringing with it lots of wonderful opportunities for the children to explore and learn. They have enjoyed designing and colouring their own spring flowers, experimenting with daffodils, learning about animals, and exploring numbers and quantities. The warmer weather has also allowed us to spend more time outdoors—painting at the easel in the sunshine and having great fun with water play using our new water wall.

The children have also been learning about people who help us. They took part in matching activities, created artwork using emergency vehicles, and even practiced cleaning the teeth boards.

I am pleased to share the results of our recent Ofsted inspection.

Ofsted have introduced a new grading scale for settings: Exceptional, Strong standard, Expected standard, Needs attention, and Urgent improvement.

They now assess safeguarding as being met or not met.

I am proud to announce that we received a strong standard rating in Achievement, Behaviour, attitudes and establishing routines, Children's welfare and wellbeing, Inclusion, Leadership and governance and expected standard in curriculum and teaching. Safeguarding standards were met.

The inspector describe what it feels like to be a child at Climbing Bears;

Children experience a nurturing and inclusive environment where they feel safe, valued and develop a strong sense of belonging. Staff promote a welcoming and respectful culture in which all children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, and those from disadvantaged backgrounds are supported effectively. As a result, children settle quickly and form secure, trusting relationships with adults and their peers.

Children grow in confidence and develop strong communication and language skills. Staff plan the curriculum thoughtfully, with a clear and consistent focus on extending children's vocabulary and supporting language development across all areas of learning. Staff interactions are purposeful and well timed, enabling children to express themselves clearly and engage fully in their play and learning. For example, staff support children to initiate play in the role-play area but then step back to allow children to develop independence. Consequently, children develop the skills and confidence they need to be well prepared for the next stage of their education.

Children form strong trusting relationships with staff, who know them well and respond sensitively to their individual needs. Children's emotional wellbeing is a clear priority and this underpins their confidence to explore, play and learn. The strong partnership with parents ensures children are consistently supported, while leadership's high expectations for learning help children to develop independence, resilience and positive attitudes to learning. As a result, children thrive both personally and academically.
