Sunshine’s House

Half term at Sunshines House is always good fun . Gymnastics, soft play, picnics, parks and meeting soldiers, police officers and life boat crew was the best . Lots of learning opportunities whilst having the best time with friends . I think the children liked arresting me a bit too much though !

Today one of the children said he would like to go to the farm . So off we went to Tam O Shanters. When we were nearly there he said that we should take some food to feed the animals. So after a slight detour to the supermarket we got some potatoes, carrots, parsnips and swede. We loaded them into our car and took them with us. At the farm some very nice people took our vegetables from us and said that the pigs would be smiling . They gave us some of the veggies back and said we could feed the pigs if we wanted to . The children had lots of fun trying to throw the veg over the fence to the pigs.

So im very very very behind with my posts to show you all what we get up to at Sunshines house. This was world book week and pancake day! The children and myself had lots of fun dressing up and reading books. This week the children also decided to groom the rocking horse, they did a fabulous job . They continued working as a team and using tools to build things .

Half term at Sunshine’s House means that some of our friends arent here this week but we get new friends for a short time. This week we have had lots of fun . We have watched movies with popcorn and treats on rainy days. We have concentrated on eating healthily and preparing our own pizzas and fruit snacks ….. delicious! We have worked together to use tools to construct . We built glider planes and then took them with us to fly when we went for a walk to the very muddy local playing field. On the walk the children decided it was a bear hunt! We built racing robots on a rainy day and kept winding them up to race , that was lots of fun .
We visited the fairies in Vale Park and then walked along to the Black Pearl , we saw some of the pirates rebuilding the ship while lots of children played on it. We have loved having our new friends here with us this week but we have missed our usual friends…… we cant wait to see what they have been up to while they have been off.

Im very late posting last weeks pics of sunshines house. We celebrated valentines day by eating lots of heart shaped food and talking about people and different things that we love and care about . We didnt get out and about very much because of some nasty storms coming and trying to blow us away . We stayed home nice and warm and played with all the lovely toys instead.

This week at Sunshine’s House we have been taking part in some mindful activities. We started the day with some colouring sheets to help us focus and put us in a good mood ( who doesnt love new crayons?), we looked at our books and talked about how we were feeling . We also tried out Teddy Bear meditation, that was lots of fun. We have been out and about again this week now that our new friends have settled in . We have been to Vale park and to visit the Black Pearl that is being rebuilt! We also went to the zoo with Our Friend Emma . We had lots of fun spotting all the different animals and enjoyed walking lots .

Sunshine’s House celebrated Chinese New Year and Damians birthday last week. We read ‘ the tiger who came to tea’ . we looked at small, medium and large tigers. We drew and coloured chinese dragons , tigers and hats. The children tasted fortune cookies, birthday cake, and we used blocks to build Chinese arches as well . We met a new friend last week and he has settled right in. Lastweek was full of new things. One of the chidren said his first word” ball”! What a great first word that is!

This week at Sunshine’s House had been a bit busy! We have looked at shapes, letters in our names and some numbers. We made green playdough to make some dinosaurs like the ones we saw at the museum last week . The children made dinosaur footprints in the sand and also looked for fossils .

The children used the shapes today to try to copy the patterns, they also made them fit together and built some structures too. After lunch we played in the sand in the garden. Using spades and their hands to scoop the sand and fill up some sand moulds to construct in the sand .

What a fab , fun filled day we have had! For our adventure today we walked to the train station and got the train to Liverpool to visit the World Museum. The children wanted to see the dinosaurs so we headed straight to them. We saw lots of dinosaurs and some skeletons. Then we walked through another section and saw some animals . Afterwards we went to the aquarium to look at the different fish there. We also found some Terrapins just like Timmy and Touché at Sunshines House . When we had finished there we went all the way to the top of the museum to look at the space section . We saw some rockets and watched an actual Astronaut on the big screen. We were very tired travelling home afterwards and we all enjoyed a rest after our lunch.

Chester zoo today for Sunshines house. We have walked our feet off ! We saw lots of different animals today and learnt some new things about some of them as well .
