Wirksworth Music Centre Fun, Friendly, Inclusive – Teaching & Inspiring Young Musicians For Over 30 Years! It is staffed by professionally qualified musicians and teachers.

Wirksworth Music Centre is a social and educational organisation for children from reception to year 13. It is supported and monitored by Derby and Derbyshire Music Partnership. Although based in Wirksworth, the music centre attracts students from Matlock, Ashbourne, Crich and many local villages. ff and students meet for group music-making on Saturday mornings at Anthony Gell School. Anyone of school age who is learning an instrument is welcome to join us. The wide scope of the music centre provides opportunities for the students to play music together in groups suited to their abilities. Our members range from young beginners to very skilled players of string and wind instruments. We give them the opportunity to perform in groups for parents and the wider community. We also have beginner groups for the younger children who are not yet learning an instrument: a music and movement class and a group which introduces children gently to the recorder. Many of the children are then inspired to start learning an orchestral instrument.

☺️ 🎶 We’re delighted to share that Wirksworth Music Centre has received a brand‑new gazebo, thanks to the support of CGI — one of the world’s largest IT and business consulting firms.

CGI are proud to support and sponsor local community groups and sports clubs and after being nominated by one of our parents, we’re thrilled to benefit from their community scheme. The gazebo will be a huge help at our outdoor concerts, rehearsals and events ☺️ 🎶

🌼🎶 Spring Concerts 2026 — A Wonderful Celebration of Music!

This Easter we had a fantastic celebration of the hard work from the start of the year, with two brilliant Spring Concerts, showcasing the talent and enthusiasm of our young musicians.

From recorder rags, string grooves, guitar classics and our uplifting choir in Matlock Bath, to beautiful performances of Ni**od, Mahler’s Adagietto, Bach’s Double Concerto and music from The Lion King, plus Ticket to Ride, at Anthony Gell School, our players filled both venues with confidence, teamwork and joy. We’re so proud of everything they have achieved this term.

A huge thank‑you to all parents, carers and supporters — your encouragement makes these moments possible.
