Some of our school leavers enjoyed a very special School Ready Yoga & Relaxation session with the wonderful Relax Kids Wi******er with Jules . 🌟

The children listened to a story all about starting school and explored their own Cape of Confidence, helping them think about how they can feel brave as they begin their next adventure. They became superhero heroes, trying out different yoga poses and movements before taking on the challenge of being Feather Ninjas – dropping, throwing and catching feathers while practising calm, controlled breathing.

After enjoying a relaxing massage train, the children unwound to peaceful music as they learned how to become a Calm Star. To finish the session, they practised spiral breathing and decorated their own breathing plates using bright and calming colours to take home.

It was a lovely opportunity for the children to build confidence, develop relaxation strategies and learn simple techniques they can use as they prepare for school.

A huge thank you to Jules for another fantastic session and we look forward to welcoming Jules back in September! 💙

Learning to notice, name and express how we are feeling through art 🎨🖌️ Learning that ALL feelings are okay and normal 😊
The children used colourful silk scarves to scan down their bodies and check in with themselves, noticing how they were feeling after a busy day at school. They chose which colours they wanted to use to represent each emotion and decorated their hearts. Some children chose to work independently and others explained their artwork to friends as they created 😍
* Permission to share artwork obtained from all mini artists

Did you know that I offer 1:1 sessions in the child's home? These are planned according to the unique needs and interests of each child. I am a qualified Primary Teacher, Relax Kids Coach and have also completed training in Play and Art Therapy Techniques. My sessions include a combination of these techniques to support children with their emotional literacy and mental health. Common themes include;
My Brilliant Brain - a child friendly way to explain the fight, flight, freeze response and strategies that can be helpful
Chill Skills - fun techniques for calming the nervous system
Heart House and Feelings Visitors - using art to recognise and understand that all feelings are okay

The Contented Child, Child Wellbeing Consultancy page is such a helpful resource for parents and teachers. I was talking to a group of parents about negative brain bias in a workshop last week so thought it would be helpful to share this post. Lots of great tips and information. I have also done some fantastic training in Lego Therapy and Dyslexia with Niki and would recommend 😁

Such an original and exciting idea! Lucky children of Wi******er to have access to such amazing resources 😁

Is there a game you've been desperate to play but you're not sure it's worth the price?
Is there a puzzle you'd love to try but you're worried about clutter at home?
Is there a role play toy that you're not sure your children would play with for more than a few weeks?

RePlay is coming soon.
A new way to play is arriving in Wi******er - one that's better for families, better for the planet, and better for our community.

RePlay is a toy hire and play movement that I'm building with a simple mission: to make brilliant play accessible to everyone while reducing waste and celebrating the joy of sharing and repairing.

Soon you'll be able to:
- Hire high quality toys, games, and puzzles without the cost or clutter of buying
- Join community play or challenge sessions
- Trade-in your own toys, games, and puzzles if you no longer use them, to earn store credit
- Collect and return toys, games, and puzzles from a network of local community hubs - making RePlay easy, local, and accessible for everyone
- Access spare parts to keep your own toys, games, and puzzles in play for longer, supporting a repair-first approach to play

I'm working on partnering with venues across Wi******er so families can play, pick up, and drop off toys at local places they already visit or can easily get to. And as RePlay grows, so will our selection and our spare-parts supply - helping everyone repair, reuse, and keep great toys, games, and puzzles in play.

Launching soon - so follow this page for updates.

And in the meantime, comment to let me know which toys, games, or puzzles you would love to be able to borrow at fraction of the retail price.
