GCSE results tomorrow. Three questions worth asking before the next step gets decided by default.
Hi everyone, I’m Helen, and this is Luca, my son, who has just finished his BTEC Advanced Diploma in Adventure Sport! 👏👏
I work with young people and families around careers and choices through Your Future Impact®, and I lead employability and skills at a university.
Every year I see students realise the path they chose isn’t right for them. Not because they aren’t capable, but because nobody stopped to ask whether it actually suited them.
These decisions often start at 14 or 16, based on friends, subjects, or what looked like the obvious next step. Then the direction of travel takes over.
Sixth form, college, apprenticeship, resit or university, the questions are the same:
1️⃣ Why did you choose this in the first place?
2️⃣ Do you still want it?
3️⃣ What would you choose now, knowing what you know about yourself?
Those are hard to answer from a blank page.
That’s why I created ThriveFit®, using data around strengths, values and the working environments young people are most likely to thrive in, so families have something real to start from.
It won’t give your child a job title. It gives you a better conversation.
And whatever the results say tomorrow, your child is not their grades, and you’re doing a better job than you think.
