Next Level Tutoring

We still have a few spaces for our KS1 & KS2 sessions, starting mid-September, at the Old Rutlish Rugby Club in Wimbledon.

We will be taking small groups (max 5), and we will cover the essentials skills needed for maths and English, relevant to both your child’s age and ability.

The sessions will all be tailored toward the group’s learning goals, which your child’s aspirations, needs and areas for development will be at the heart of.

Parents will receive regular updates of their child’s progress. We believe in working with parents is so important and we know how much your little ones learning journey means to you. We want to work with you to build confidence in themselves and a love of learning 🥰

Drop us a DM or email us at [email protected] for more information.

Phonics is so important when helping children learn to read and spell. It gives them the tools to decode words, breaking them down in to smaller sounds which they can then blend together at the end.

We like to segment them by using sausages and beans (I know, it may sound strange). The sounds (phoneme) can consist of one letter (grapheme) such as c, a, t or two or three letters such as ai or igh. We call the longer graphemes (digraph = 2 letters, trigraph = 3 letters) sausages and the one letter graphemes beans. The children love drawing these on while recognising different sounds.

If your little one is ever stuck reading a word, get them to write it out and add their sausages and beans below it!

We love asking children questions to make them think. This encourages self-awareness, builds confidence through sharing their perspective and helps them improve their communication.

Let us know some of the best thought- provoking questions you’ve asked your little one or ones they might have asked you!

Well done to Simone Biles for taking a step back to focus on her mental health. What an inspiration. We cannot forget the importance of taking time for ourselves to reenergise and recharge. Do share your tips for finding time for yourself and what you do to relax!

What can your children teach you? We have always given the children to show off their knowledge and skills, as this not helps improve their confidence and improves their speech and language development.

We have been taught many fascinating facts (did you know a crocodile can't stick out their tongue?'), been shown new skills (now we could floss professionally) and gained invaluable insight into the child's personal interests. This helps us keep them engaged in future sessions!

What're the most interesting/fascinating/strange things your child/student has taught you?

Maslow's hierarchy of needs advocates that your most basic needs need to be met before you can reach the higher levels. Needs come in many different forms and after an unusual academic year, everyone deserves some time to catch up on sleep, eat well and spend time with friends and family.

Remember to make time over the summer for both you (home learning, enough said) and your child to relax, unwind and meet your own needs. Teachers, that includes you as well. It has been a tough year so enjoy some well-deserved time off!
