Overhead lines must always be treated as live and dangerous. You do not need to touch them to get hurt. Electricity can jump a gap and cause serious injury or death.

The golden rule
Pull up. Look up. Look out.

Before you unload anything, stop and check:

above the house
above the driveway
side access
back garden
above garages, extensions and conservatories
anywhere your pole could swing, lift or travel
If you see cables and you are not happy, do not do the job.

If in doubt: walk away or call 105, If your in Northern Ireland call 0345 7 643 643
If cables look too close, too low, damaged, unclear, or you are not sure what they are: call 105 or

NI on 0345 7 643 643 and ask for your electricity network operator. They can assess the line and advise what needs doing.

Had this sent to me by Dennis from Omega Window cleaning he was doing a solar clean but more importantly I noticed he was doing things the right way when it come to safety dielectric boots and insulated gloves and insulated pole yes solar panels can kill you and go up to DC 1500 volts so make sure you wearing your ppe guys and girls 🙌🙏

Today, ISCA launches a new industry resource:

The ISCA Global Solar Cleaning Incident Register.

For the first time, fatalities, serious injuries and significant incidents connected with solar panel cleaning activities are being recorded in a dedicated global register.

The purpose is simple:

Learn from incidents. Prevent future incidents.

The register currently includes recorded incidents from multiple countries and identifies recurring hazard categories including:

⚠️ Falls from height

⚡ Electrocution

🔌 Overhead power line contact

As the solar cleaning industry continues to grow worldwide, understanding how incidents occur is critical to improving safety standards and protecting workers.

This register will continue to evolve as new incidents are identified, reviewed and added.
