Supporting Your Child's Attendance in Year 10

As your child begins Year 10, they are entering a crucial stage of their education. This is the start of their GCSE journey, where every lesson builds on the knowledge and skills they will need for their examinations next year.

Good attendance is about much more than academic success. Being in school every day helps young people nurture friendships, develop confidence, and strengthen their sense of belonging within the school community. These social connections are especially important as they grow in independence and prepare for adulthood.

Research shows that attendance has a significant impact on outcomes. Missing just 10 days of Year 11 can halve a student's chances of achieving a Grade 5 or above in both English and Maths. The habits established in Year 10 lay the foundations for success in Year 11, making regular attendance more important than ever.

We understand that there may be times when families need additional support. If you have any concerns about your child's attendance or wellbeing, please don't hesitate to contact your child's House Team. We are here to work in partnership with you to ensure your child receives the support they need to thrive.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

πŸŽ‰ Celebrating the Class of 2026 – GCSE Results Day πŸŽ‰

Wilmslow High School is delighted to celebrate another year of outstanding GCSE results, reflecting the hard work, resilience and commitment of our students throughout their secondary education.

Headteacher Christina Kane praised students for their achievements and the determination they have shown in reaching this important milestone.

πŸ’¬ "We are incredibly proud of our students and all that they have achieved. These results are the culmination of years of dedication, perseverance and hard work, and they reflect not only academic success but also the character and resilience that our young people demonstrate every day."

This year's results showcase the breadth of talent across the year group, with students achieving success across a wide range of subjects and making excellent progress from their starting points.

Mrs Kane also paid tribute to the staff whose expertise, care and commitment have supported students throughout their learning journey.

πŸ’¬ "Our staff work tirelessly to ensure every student is challenged, supported and encouraged to achieve their potential. I would like to thank all of our teachers and support staff for the exceptional commitment they show to our students, not only during examination years but throughout their time at Wilmslow High School."

The school also recognised the vital role played by parents and carers.

πŸ’¬ "We are extremely grateful to our parents and families for the encouragement and support they provide. The partnership between home and school is instrumental in helping young people thrive, and these results are a reflection of that shared commitment."

πŸŽ“ Looking to the future

Students will now progress to a wide range of exciting destinations. Some will begin apprenticeships and vocational pathways, while others will continue their studies at local colleges and specialist performing arts institutions.

The majority of students, however, have chosen to remain at Wilmslow High School to continue their education in the school's highly successful Sixth Form, where they will embark on the next stage of their academic journey.

Mrs Kane added:

πŸ’¬ "It is wonderful to see our students moving on to such diverse and ambitious destinations. Whether they are pursuing apprenticeships, further education, specialist training or remaining with us in Sixth Form, we are confident they have bright futures ahead of them. We look forward to seeing them continue to flourish and make a positive contribution to their communities."

πŸ‘ Wilmslow High School congratulates all members of the Class of 2026 and wishes them every success as they take their next steps.

We are incredibly proud of you all! πŸ’™

The Class of 2026 has achieved one of the strongest sets of results in recent years, reflecting their commitment, determination and ambition throughout their Sixth Form journey.

Headteacher Christina Kane said:

"We are absolutely delighted with this year's results. Our students have demonstrated exceptional resilience, dedication and determination, and these outcomes are thoroughly deserved. They have embraced every opportunity available to them and are now progressing to exciting futures across a wide range of pathways."

"We are particularly proud of the destinations secured by this year's cohort. The majority of students have gained places at their first-choice universities, pursuing an impressive range of courses and career aspirations. Students will be studying at Oxford and Cambridge, reading subjects including German, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, while others have secured places on highly competitive courses such as Medicine and Veterinary Science. Many more will be continuing their studies at leading Russell Group universities, including Durham and Bristol."

"The success of this year group extends far beyond traditional university routes. Two students will be studying Music at prestigious specialist institutions, while others have already secured full-time employment in sectors including sport and law. Students will also be beginning apprenticeships in areas such as procurement, law and education. Together, these destinations reflect the breadth of talent, aspiration and achievement within this exceptional cohort."

The success of the cohort is a testament not only to the ambition and hard work of the students, but also to the dedication of staff who have supported, challenged and inspired them throughout their time at Wilmslow High School.

Mrs Kane added:

"These achievements have been made possible through a genuine partnership between students, staff and families. We are incredibly grateful to our teachers and support staff for the expertise, care and encouragement they provide every day, and to parents and carers for their unwavering support."

"Today is a celebration of a remarkable group of young people. Their results reflect not only academic excellence, but also the character, resilience and determination they have shown throughout their time at school. We are immensely proud of everything they have accomplished and look forward to seeing the positive impact they will make in the years ahead."

As students collect their results and prepare for the next chapter of their lives, Wilmslow High School is proud to celebrate not only their academic success, but also the qualities that have helped them achieve it. Whether progressing to university,

apprenticeships, employment or specialist training, the Class of 2026 leaves with an outstanding record of achievement and every reason to be confident about the future.

πŸ† Another Macc and District title for Wilmslow!

Congratulations to our U12 boys’ football team, who were crowned Macclesfield & District champions after an impressive 7-1 victory over Poynton in the final.

After going behind early on, the boys responded brilliantly, showing great character and composure to turn the game around. Goals from Theo Campbell-Bilton, Jack Moore and Tommy Jackson gave Wilmslow a 3-1 lead at half-time before a dominant second-half display saw the team pull away in style.

There were strong performances all over the pitch, with goalkeeper Lenny Lewis making a number of important saves throughout the game. A special mention also goes to Mason Taylor-Dawson, who was named Player of the Match after scoring twice.

An incredible achievement and a fantastic experience for the boys to play at Macclesfield F.C. and bring home more silverware for the school πŸ‘βš½
