Our Week in the Baby Room
'Beep Beep' is the sound of the busy baby room as it's transport week this week.
We have enjoyed driving the cars up and down our road, making some play-dough and rolling the cars on it to make different tracks. We have washed the cars to make them all sparkly clean. We have also been singing many transport songs, 'bouncing up and down on a big red tractor' seemed to be the favourite in the baby room.
We have enjoyed the sensory experience of using our developing mark-making skills in the transport-themed sensory tray. It was fascinating to look at the marks we can make when we pushed a car, a tractor and a train through the foam and over the bumpy sand mounds. It is also great fun using our fingers and hands to express ourselves.
Through this sensory experience, we have developed our moving and handling skills and our communication and language skills.
What a great week, Babies.

Our week in the Tots room.
It's been a mixture of weather, but the minibeasts have seen you, and they want to come and play.
What an exciting week we've had here in Tots. We read the story, 'Mad About Minibeasts' and decided to get our magnifying glasses and head out into the garden to see what Minibeasts we could find. There were flies, spiders, butterflies, worms, beetles, slugs, woodlouse, and we even made friends with a snail and named him 'Lala'
After spotting so many, we had a go at turning our playdough into our own minibeasts, creating homes for them using various building materials, using the magnifying glasses to explore our 'model minibeasts', baking ladybird bread and 'garden cupcakes', and of course, we read lots of 'Minibeast' stories.
I wonder what minibeasts you could find at home over the weekend?

Our Week in Pre School
If you go down to the bottom of the garden today, you'll probably find lots of little explorers, hunting for bugs and all things creepy and crawly.
As we have some resident caterpillars here at the House of Rompa that we are watching grow day by day, we thought, why not explore mini beasts some more this week๐๐๐ชฒ๐ท๐๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐๐ชณ
We have all been busy, using our checklists and magnifying glasses to search everywhere for minibeasts. Our collection included worms, beetles, ladybirds and even an earwig!! Word is that all the minibeasts have made their way to the House of Rompa Bug Hotel after hearing how well they are looked after by all our lovely boys and girls. They have been super-gentle, used their quiet voices and even made them comfortable beds to sleep in. Alongside this, the children have had lots of fun making their very own minibeasts, finding out lots of bug-tastic facts and counting lots of legs, spots and stripes.
Pre-School, you have been magnificent minibeast explorers this week. Well done!

Our Week in Tots
'In the light of the moon, a little egg lay on a leaf, then POP, out of the egg came a tiny and very hungry caterpillar.'
As we explored the story, 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar', we also learnt about the life cycle of a butterfly. We learnt a new song with actions to help us understand the lifecycle of a butterfly - I wonder if your Tot can sing it to you?
We have been creating tasty caterpillars using cucumbers, and we even explored the fruits the caterpillar ate -yum yum.
We've created our own caterpillar headbands to help us act out the story with our friends, and manipulated playdough into caterpillars and butterfly shapes. We used our ripping and tearing skills to create beautiful collaged butterflies, used potatoes to print our own hungry caterpillar, and we have even had a special delivery - after such an exciting week are ready to look after our very own REAL caterpillars!

Our Week in Pre-School
Say cheese, everybody! Wow - what shiny teeth you all have. This week in Pre-School, our boys and girls have been talking about the dentist and the different things that we do to keep our teeth looking lovely and healthy. We have seen our little ones' teeth brushing skills, as they pretended to be dentists themselves. They had the most unlikely patients, including dinosaurs and crocodiles. We have been looking at our lovely smiles in the mirrors and have even had a go at counting our teeth, just like real dentists.
We have been so busy learning a new song about brushing our teeth!! We also played various games to learn what is healthy for our teeth and what is bad. We had some masks and role-played dentists. In the tuff tray, we had to clean some very dirty teeth. Of course, there was colouring available for those who absolutely love colouring and we practiced our writing skills by writing words related to teeth.
There were certificates for those who did the best at teeth brushing or answered the questions well..... when do we brush our teeth? How long for? How much toothpaste? What's bad for our teeth?
What a great job, Pre-School

Our Week in Babies
Stomp, stomp, stomp! Could that be a T-Rex? Or maybe it's a Triceratops? Hold on a second... I think it could be our babies, crawling and stomping as they learn all about dinosaurs! We have had lots of fun stomping dinosaurs in paint, looking at the super marks we left behind, helping them escape the chilly ice and watching them explore the cave - we have lots of great little palaeontologists here at the House of Rompa.
Alongside hearing lots of new words, we also explored lots of different textures in our sensory dinosaur tray. There were things we could crunch, things we could bang, and things we could sprinkle!
What a roar-some week, Babies!!

House Of Rompa Star Of The Month for April!
Our star of the month is voted for by our parents and children!!
Our star of the month for April is........ HAYLEY.
Some things that our parents and children have said about Hayley are;
*โItโs a Hayley day today mummy, Iโm excited!โ
* My little girl loves Hayley and she is so personable and kind.
*Hayley, we appreciate her enthusiasm with everything the children are doing.
*As my little girl's key person, Hayley constantly goes over and above, especially putting huge amounts of time and effort into her reports and development plans.
*Weโd like to nominate Hayley! There was a tricky drop off where our little boy was unusually upset and Dad found it really hard leaving him. Hayley called Dad about 10 minutes later to say our little boy had settled quickly and was absolutely fine now, which we both found so kind and reassuring, and meant we werenโt worried all day.
Well done Hayley....you are amazing!!

Our Week in the Baby Room'
'We are the music babies, we come from the baby room and we can play'.......
drums, tambourines, maracas, xylophones and castanets.
It's been a very noisy week in the Baby room this week and that only means one thing....it's music and sounds week of course!
We have loved to sing, dance and play every musical note we could. We have been singing and learning new 'Nursery Rhymes' as well as our classic favourites. We have been busy making our own instruments, ready to make our own babies band!! They make some super sounds!!
What a fantastically loud week we have had.

Our Week in Tots
Old Macdonald had a farm, ee ei ee ei eo, and on that farm he found some....Tots!
This week, we have been exploring the different kinds of animals we may find on the farm. We have been naming the animals and the sounds they make, and some of us even remembered the names of the baby animals.
The pigs had lots of fun stamping and rolling in the mud, making different marks as they did. There were horses, goats, ducks and cows marching through the paint, leaving behind different marks, and we decided they definitely all needed a bath when they were finished having all that fun. As we washed the animals, we talked about needing to have a wash to be clean so, "we don't get sick," or "we don't be smelly."
We used our pinching skills to pull apart the cotton wool and create our very own 'fluffy sheep', we used our 'pushing' skills to push the balls into different-sized holes, pretending to be feeding the animals, and we even managed to turn some cream from the farm into butter to have with our snack!
Of course, we couldn't explore the animals on the farm without some masks to pretend to be the animals as we acted out different farm songs. What fun we have had this week.

Our Week in Pre-School
Green fingers, green toes, that's what the Pre-School children have this week. We've been hit by the gardening bug and it could not have been a better week for it. The sun has been shining and we've been busy digging, planting and watering plants. We planted some of our own little seeds that we are going to look after to help them grow into big plants. We know that plants need lots of sunlight and have to be given a drink of water every day to help them grow big and strong, just like us! We've been helping out in our garden too, planting new plants and getting rid of weeds. We've looked at the different parts of a plant and can tell you where the leaf, stem and petals are, why don't you try asking us to show you at home? If you need a gardener to come and help out in your garden, just ask Pre-School!

Our Week In Pre-School.
As Wednesday was 'Earth Day', we have spent the week exploring the world we live in and what we can do to help it survive and flourish. We learnt all about recycling and what materials we can recycle and those that we can't. Did you know that a bench can be made out of plastic bags and a slide can be made out of glass bottles......Pre-School do!!
To demonstrate how we can all work together, we took turns to splat our hands in the paint and turn all of our handprints into 'The Earth', we used coloured water and pipettes to make our own mini Earth and we even decorated ourselves an Earth crown.
In the tuff tray, we explored the ocean, using tweezers to collect all the plastic to keep the animals in the ocean safe. We also learnt about how to save water and how some countries are not as lucky as we are and they don't have water that comes out of a tap; they have to walk to a well to collect their water.
Out in the garden, we took the time to scoop up some soil, add in a seed and then give it some water and placed them in a nice sunny place, hopefully helping them to turn into sunflowers.
We've enjoyed learning about recycling and coming up with ideas as to how we can reuse items. Using glue, sellotape and scissors, we created some amazing 'junk models'; there were spaceships, boats, robots and more and we even used some special paint to decorate an old t-shirt and upcycle it into a brand new t-shirt.
Well done, Pre-School.
