Well, we have officially broken up today for Christmas. In just 11 weeks, our students have gained their first boxing qualification, and it’s safe to say that if any accidents happen in front of any of our 9 students, they’ll know exactly how to look after you, as they are now fully qualified first aiders.

A fun-filled day out for our Pathway Academy students today! First up was an action-packed go-karting session, followed by a visit to Tameside Elite Boxing Club. To top it all off, everyone was treated to a well-earned Domino’s feast! 🍕

Tutor Rick took first place on the track, closely followed by Corey and Tutor Alan, the rest of the group struggled to keep up with the adults as both tutors showed off their racing skills! 😎

At Pathway Academy, we don’t do normal education, we combine learning with fun, experiences, and opportunities that build confidence and character. 💪

That’s what it’s all about, seeing young people take real pride in their achievements and the effort they’ve put in. 💪

What a great first month it’s been 💪🥊

We now have 9 registered students, and 3 have already passed their first boxing qualification, the GB Boxing Awards Preliminary Award!

These awards are part of the GB Boxing Awards pathway, which are recognised by ASDAN and contribute towards GCSE PE qualifications.

If you’ve left school and are aged between 16 -19, and are not currently in employment, this placement is for you, so get in touch!

Sessions run 2 days per week (4 hours per day) we provide transport, a meal, and go on regular trips and activities.
You’ll also gain your First Aid qualification alongside your boxing and life skills training.

An amazing start to what’s going to be a big journey ahead for all our students 👏

We are so excited to offer this amazing opportunity for young people – even those without EHCPs!

Pathway Academy is now running weekend boxing sessions open to everyone – including those who already train with us!

You’ll work towards 6 ASDAN-accredited GB Boxing Awards qualifications, with each qualification delivered over an 8-week block, led by a GB-qualified tutor.

We’re proud to launch Pathway Academy, a new alternative provision in Wigan, created specifically for young people aged 11–19 with EHCPs.

We’re not like the traditional school system. At Pathway Academy, we take a holistic approach that focuses on building confidence, structure, and purpose, in and out of the classroom.

We’re currently taking referrals for 2-day-per-week placements, and would love to hear from parents, carers, caseworkers or professionals who want to explore a better option for a young person with an EHCP.

🥊 Does your child want to achieve GB Boxing Awards that support their GCSEs and future? 🥇📚

We’re now offering a unique opportunity for young people aged 11–19 have a EHCP to gain nationally recognised GB Boxing Awards – the perfect blend of fitness, personal development and educational achievement!

Through a structured, supportive and engaging programme, your child will work towards qualifications designed to build confidence, discipline and focus – skills that directly support academic learning and life beyond school.

👉 What they’ll be working towards:

Preliminary Award

Standard Awards 1–3

Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards

All fully recognised and mapped to support PE & GCSE development

👊 What we’ll be teaching:

Non-contact boxing: stance, guard, footwork, shadow boxing, pad work, defensive movements and fitness

Life skills: respect, discipline, communication, teamwork and self-confidence

📍 Sessions are held twice a week in a supportive, inclusive environment led by an England Boxing qualified coach and Northwest Region Lead Coach.

🔥 Taster Class Available This Summer!
We’ll be running a free taster session over the summer holidays – a chance for your child to get involved, meet the team and see what it’s all about before fully enrolling.
