Gather together to hear more information about how the (Path To Purpose), and work happening across our Borough will involve us partners.

Hear from Alison McKenzie-Folan, Live Well lead and Wigan Council CEO, who will open the day. Claire Burnham from Wigan Council will have a chat about Pride in Place and what that’s looking like in the two different areas. Our CEO, Karen Parker will talk about our future, our priorities for the next year, and how you as a sector are vital in ensuring communities thrive and live well.

Over lunch and through the afternoon, there’s plenty of opportunity for informal conversations with strategic leads, talk more to providers who have been funded through Live Well funds so far, and try out some of the activities they are delivering with their communities.

We will also have a workshop from Kerry at Brilliant Thing CIC with activities provoking your reflections on your hopes and dreams, and the opportunity to commit those hopes and dreams to film with Martin Green from Green Room Creative Productions.

Wigan Borough Community First has commissioned us to create a documentary about Wigan's VCFSE sector.

We aim to capture testimony from across Wigan & Leigh – involving grassroots organisations, the wide variety of CIC’s and social enterprises, emerging or established charities – with an important opportunity for staff and volunteers to have their voices heard.

We appreciate that not everyone will be comfortable appearing on film, but we would still like to hear from you if this is the case. There are opportunities to include your ideas in different ways or you may wish to nominate someone else on your behalf.

We are looking to finalise filming dates as soon as possible so that arrangements can be made. More information will be provided on signing up.

We hope you are able to support this creative way of researching and reporting on the innovative work that is improving and transforming our communities.

The Royal Exchange Theatre is bringing a community festival of performing arts and creativity to Tyldesley this August, and there are some exciting opportunities for people to get involved!

'Pigeon': Cast Call Out - 'Pigeon' is a brand-new play from the RET, supported by ThickSkin Theatre Co, which will be headlining the festival. 'Pigeon' is about community, folklore, and what it means to fly away and never return.
