Home Education Update for Parents 📢

Just a quick update as there’s been some talk around possible changes to home education.

The government is looking to introduce some updates over the next couple of years, which may include:

• A requirement for home educated children to be registered with the local authority (many already are, especially if they’ve been removed from mainstream school)
• Some increased oversight to ensure education is suitable
• In certain circumstances, more involvement from the council where there are additional concerns (e.g. children in care or known to services)

At the moment, nothing has changed, and this is not something to worry about. Most of these steps are being put in place to help safeguard children.

✔️ Home education is not being banned
✔️ Parents will still have the right to choose how their child is educated and the decision to home educate (unless there are significant concerns)
✔️ There is no set curriculum being introduced
✔️ For most families, day-to-day life will feel very similar

This is mainly about having a clearer record of children who are not in school, rather than changing how you educate your child.

There is still plenty of time before anything comes into place, and I will keep up to date with everything and let you know if anything directly affects us.

For now, everything stays exactly the same 😊

If you have any questions, feel free to message me anytime.

Although all strategies don’t work for every child here are some teaching and learning strategies .
I have learned these in particular help a lot, they can be used by parents at home ♥️.

Adapt your language – be aware of the complexity of your instructions. Make sure they are as short as possible and given in the order they need to be done.

Peer teaching – by explaining new learning to someone else, children are retrieving and rehearsing information, strengthening the neural pathways of that memory.

Use written or visual prompts to accompany verbal instructions- Some children may benefit from personal visual scaffolds, such as task management or ‘now and next’ boards, to ease the load on their working memory. For younger children especially, you can also use action to reinforce learning.

Visual reference material around the classroom – working walls can be used to represent the steps that need to be taken to successfully complete the activity, and examples of What a Good One Looks Like (WAGOLLs) to show children what they are aiming to produce.

Virtual learning environments – for setting homework use one with a to do list function. This can help to support pupils’ self-organisation and keep track of what they need to do.
Create routines –these can reduce cognitive load.

Personal strategies to aid memory – explicitly teach children strategies to use independently. This could be notetaking, using graphic organisers, or creating mnemonics. By being exposed to a variety of techniques, children can find what works best for them. Everyone is different.

Experiences – plan in some activities so learners can ‘experience’ the information and reinforce learning through episodic memory. This could maybe include role playing and other activities, group activities, or debates.

Verbalising – regularly allow children to verbalise their tasks – ask, ‘What are you doing now? What will you do next?’

Play memory games – these can be whole class, small group or individual.

How amazing 🤩

This was Norahs( one of my Students)
2nd official comp, she was a semi finalist in Lille in Oct, where she finished 3rd.

Norahs is now 9th in Europe & 2nd in the UK
If she maintains her position (top 20) she will be invited to world champs in San Francisco and be sponsored by her local gamers shop ☺️.

Pokemon is one of the hardest games to play , this was confirmed by most of the boys in my group, they were very impressed .

The game consists of many skills including, Focus skills , strategics and lots of maths 💪.

We are so so proud of you Norah , keep shining always 😉♥️♥️

Hi 👋, I have been inundated with enquiries about my setting , so I thought a post with more about what I offer would be helpful.

Firstly we are not a school nor are we an alternative provision for the council, however I do work closely with local councils providing updates on my children with parents permission.

We are not a child care provider therefore fees cannot be paid for through the child care scheme, however depending on circumstances there is other funding available.

Adaptive education is a friendly environment set in a log cabin located on a farm .
We are a home education - tutor group providing group educational support and 1-1 sessions, with a relaxed scheme of work allowing pupils to be educated adaptively.

Adaptive teaching is an approach that focuses on the entire group while still responding to individual student needs.
It involves knowing students' prior levels of attainment/additional needs and providing targeted support.

Adaptive teaching replaces the term
"differentiation" and focuses on making teaching appropriate for all children . It is a hallmark of good teaching and is proven to raise student outcomes of all abilities.

Adaptive teaching requires teachers to know when and how to differentiate appropriately for each child and their needs . It is a positive step forward for inclusive teaching and learning.

Sessions include:
*Mathematics & English functional skills.
*Animal welfare - basic animal care , including practical sessions.
*Wellbeing - Developing resilience, regulating emotions, improving self-esteem, growth and mindset, awareness and goal setting.
*Outdoor activities and alternative curricular .

Current group sessions are KS1/2 , KS3/4 also offering 1-1 session .

♥️♥️♥️♥️
Kind Regards
