Head of Sixth Form, Tim Smith said:
“We are exceptionally proud of our students and the outstanding results they have achieved. These young people have shown incredible resilience over the past two years, overcoming challenges and continuing to strive for excellence. Today is a celebration of their hard work, their ambition and the support of their families and the dedicated staff who have helped them along the way.

A set of results can never fully capture the individual journey of each student, but today we celebrate every achievement and every young person. We wish them every success as they move on to universities, apprenticeships and the world of work. We cannot wait to hear about all that they go on to accomplish.

The success of the Class of 2026 is also a celebration of the wider Sixth Form community. We would like to thank our dedicated staff, parents and carers for the encouragement, guidance and support they have provided throughout the students’ Sixth Form journey.
As our students take their next steps, we hope they do so with pride in everything they have achieved and excitement for everything that lies ahead.

On Wednesday, year 8 students took a trip to Bletchley Park. The students got to explore the park and roam in two groups - Mr Ashworth’s group definitely got the most information as he was playing tour guide for the day! The students got involved and stuck in learning about how important the code breaking was to us during WW2 and how different life would look today if we didn’t have those working at Bletchley Park.

On Tuesday 14th July, a group of students who are possibly considering a career in the Police Force 👮 had the opportunity to visit the National Police Air Service Centre in Lutterworth. We were hosted by an ex-student who is currently seconded to the unit.

Students listened to a talk about life and a career as a Police Officer and the role of the NPAS operational base and were then able to ask questions. They then had an opportunity to see the helicopter 🚁and find out about more about how it is used and the equipment on board.

On Tuesday 14th of July, students took part in our annual SHSCC Sports Day, which proved to be a successful event filled with enthusiasm and excellent team spirit.🎉

Throughout the day, students competed to earn points for their form groups across a wide range of activities. During periods 1–4, forms participated in events including football, netball, rounders, dodgeball, tug of war, as well as a variety of track and field competitions. Students demonstrated great determination and sportsmanship as they represented their forms, with every point contributing towards the overall standings. There was also non sporting events including catering, a quiz and Task Master.

The excitement continued into period 5, when each form selected one boy and one girl to compete in the 100m sprint finals. These races showed some outstanding performances and were cheered on by fellow students and staff. The day concluded with the relay races as competitors battled for the final points of the day. 🏃‍♀️🏃

Congratulations to all of the winning forms on their achievement (Winners to be announced in assemblies) 🏆and to every student who took part and contributed points to their form throughout the day.

Sports Day was a wonderful celebration of participation and teamwork. 🫶It was fantastic to see so many students getting involved, encouraging one another and representing their forms. 🤩

A huge thank👏you goes to all staff for their support in helping the day run smoothly and to the PE Department for organising such a successful event. Most importantly, congratulations to all of our students for their effort and positive attitude throughout the day.

We look forward to another fantastic Sports Day next year!

Our Sports Leaders braved the hot weather again last week, at the AJS Healthy Lifestyle Day, and once again they were fantastic! They encouraged the young people, taught them new skills, and were excellent role models throughout the day. 🫶

Working in groups of three meant they could take turns enjoying a well-earned break in the shade from the heat, while ensuring every activity ran smoothly.

👏A huge thank you to all of our Sports Leaders for their enthusiasm, commitment, and leadership in delivering another brilliant festival. We are incredibly proud of you all!

Last week some of our sports leaders assisted with New Road Primary School Sports Day. 🎖️

They coped amazingly with the challenging conditions 🥵and adapted quickly to the revised schedule. They gave clear instructions to the younger students with confidence and efficiency, ensuring that activities started promptly.

Throughout the morning, the sports leaders demonstrated professionalism, enthusiasm and confidence. They were excellent role models, showing maturity and commitment while supporting both staff and students.

A highlight of the morning was a guest appearance in goal from the Peterborough United mascot 'Peter Burrow' 🐰⚽️and the leaders couldn't resist having a photo taken with him.

Mrs Hunt "I am incredibly proud of the way they conducted themselves and the positive manner in which they represented the college. Their hard work and dedication played a significant role in the success of the morning." 🫶
