Ooops! No photos from the day because we were SO busy with you lot 😂 We came to celebrate the wild side of Cambridgeshire and left even more determined to connect children with food, farming and nature. Wild About Cambridgeshire was our final event of 2026 and what a way to finish ❤️❤️ Hundreds of you milled flour, made bread dough shapes and got your hands into the peas 🫛beans 🫘 and lentils. Guys we are exhausted, in our pjs and ready for bed 🙈 But it was absolutely worth it and can't wait to keep the brilliant momentum going. We befriended farmers, hopefully enticed you all to join our gardening club and inspired me to finish our climate change gardening series for schools.

Anyway, from the bottom of our heart, THANK YOU xx

Harriet and Tina

PS massive shoutout to my mum and Lee who came to our rescue today at 10am with a marquee to shield off the unexpected downpours this morning followed by the very hot burning sun this afternoon 🥰🥰

It feels like autumn doesn't, it?! 🍁 The trees are dropping their leaves early because they are stressed, they've had enough and are hunkering down to survive the colder seasons ahead. Don't be a tree in survival mode ... 🪾 The Breakfast Garden Club is the perfect place to unwind in the garden with us on Sunday mornings throughout the autumn. I *may* be a touch bias, but I don't think much else tops listening to the birds chatter 🪶 and watching everything move in the breeze 🍂, surrounded by nature, kids playing and of course the mandatory hot cuppa in my hands 🫖

Oh and obviously there's some gardening jobs to be done too 😅

Looking forward to seeing you there poppet! Here's the link to reserve your place 👇🏼

I have a confession.

I am dreading going back to school next week ... because no matter how fab the growing space looked before the summer holidays, in September I walk through the school gates into a very different garden and my heart breaks a little.

Gardening in schools is bloomin tough at the best of times because there is never enough time, staff, budget or resources to make it really thrive (not all schools I'm sure). Add the horrific drought we've survived here and - well, I just don't want to do it. It will be a graveyard.

School gardens need to work with our changing climate (and realistic school priorities) instead of fighting against it.

I'm thinking of writing a guide called 'The Climate Ready School Garden' aimed at teachers that can't get out into their school green spaces as much as they'd like ... but still want a beautiful growing space for the children to play, learn and thrive.

Would this be helpful? What's your biggest gardening headache? Tell me below and I'll get writing.

Parents… I need to know I’m not the only one. 😂

What’s your biggest packed lunch fail? The banana that came home looking like soup? The sandwich you carefully made that returned completely untouched? The lunchbox that mysteriously contained the SAME yoghurt three days later? 👀

Or the classic:

“Did you eat your lunch?”
“No.”
“Why?”
“I didn’t like it.”
“…You ASKED for it.” 😂

👇 Tell me your funniest packed lunch fail. No judgement here. We’re all just trying to get children fed. 😅

What's your go to meal when camping?! We're on holiday this week and packed a huge tub of frozen vegetable soup which we will turn into Bolognese, Chilli and of course soup for some fibre. Helps balance out the sausage and bacon breakfasts, right?!

The school dinner hall of fame 😂

Let’s settle this: what was the BEST school dinner you remember? 🍽️

Was it something genuinely delicious… or did childhood hunger and nostalgia make it taste better than it actually was? 😂

And while we’re here — what was the absolute WORST?

I actually hated school dinners so much that I took a packed lunch (the taste of soggy fish fingers and mushy peas still haunts me)

👇 Tell me your best AND worst school dinner in the comments.

Teachers — what are the school dinners children seem to love now?

And parents — what’s the one school dinner your child comes home talking about?

Do your kids go down the or watering technique when it's their turn with a watering can? ☔️🌱 The teacher in me understands that kids learn through doing, experimentation and observation. The horticulturist in me sometimes feels like I'm trapped in a goldilocks story book nightmare aimed at gardeners 🥲

👉Share this with a gardening parent in solidarity, because these kids are crushing our insta-garden goals (but we know we are raising them right ... if slightly feral) 🐞

Sometimes seeds don’t grow 🌞. Sometimes plants don’t survive . Sometimes a recipe is missed, muddled or turns out differently than expected ‍🤷🏾‍♀️

But that’s where resilience grows.

At The Fenland Grow Project, we help children see mistakes as part of learning. They begin to problem-solve, try again, adapt and realise that getting something “wrong” is often just the first step towards understanding it better.
