Absolutely agree with this. I never take for granted the importance of our brilliant staff team…magic makers and dedicated in every way. at such a busy time of year. Eternal thanks 🙏

Teachers are the real magic makers.

I have to admit, I didn’t know this until I spent time in a classroom and saw it for myself.

And parents—they won’t ever take credit for this because they are far too humble, so I’m going to tell you.

Teachers are the people who are welcoming our overtired, overwhelmed, overstimulated, and over-it children into their classrooms every morning in December with the biggest, warmest smiles and the patience of saints.

As we kiss our babies goodbye and send them on their way before dashing off to run errands and finish up our holiday shopping, teachers are working overtime behind the scenes.

They are masterfully navigating meltdowns and deflecting prying questions about reindeer and the speed of Santa’s sleigh.

They are wiping streams of runny noses and fighting off a deluge of seasonal germs and viruses.

They are zipping up coats and reminding our kids to use the bathroom and encouraging them for the millionth time to share with friends.

They are planning Polar Express days where 20 kindergarteners get to wear their pajamas to school and bring in a blanket and stuffed animal.

They are rehearsing a Christmas play with a script and costumes and props.

They are willingly bringing glitter into their rooms so our children can assemble the most beautiful crafts to bring home to us as a gift.

And then staying after to vacuum it all up off their carpets.

They are facilitating gift exchanges and holiday-themed games and pizza parties.

They are bustling around the classroom first thing in the morning. Making sure they have the right number of copies and setting out morning work on tables and laminating . . . so much laminating!

They are staying late to plan ahead for the next day. Even though they have their own families to worry about and their own shopping to do and their own needs to take care of.

ALL OF THIS while trying to stick to their curriculum and making sure our children are still learning and growing and thriving in their class.

Teachers are the magic makers.

They are the calm to the craziness of the season, and we have such peace of mind when our kids are with them.

Because even when schedules are off and life is hectic, they are a warm, comforting, stable presence in their lives.

They are a home away from home.

And the most amazing part of all?

This isn’t just during the holidays, or in the month of December.

The truth is, teachers make magic happen for our children the whole year. ✨

A child who can clap to the beat of a song may also be better prepared to read a book. New research highlights a fascinating link between rhythm and reading. Music and language rely on many of the same brain networks, especially those that process timing, patterns, and sound. When preschoolers practice keeping a steady beat, they are not just making music, they are building the wiring that supports literacy.

Children who struggle with rhythm often face challenges in phonological awareness, the skill of breaking down words into sounds. Since reading requires the brain to decode patterns quickly, rhythm training can strengthen these skills early on. Something as simple as clapping games, nursery rhymes, or tapping to music may give children a meaningful head start in reading readiness.

Experts say rhythm exercises should not replace reading practice, but they can be a powerful complement. By combining language play with music, parents and educators may help children develop stronger listening, attention, and reading skills.

The beat of a song may be doing far more than entertaining. It could be laying the foundation for lifelong learning.

Today we are all invited to wear something yellow for ‘Hello Yellow Day’. This reminds us all of the importance of mental health, being kind and trying our best to support one another. 💜☀️💜☀️💜☀️💜☀️

Tomorrow we are saying with M&S for World Mental Health Day. The biggest and brightest mental health awareness day of the year.

No young person should feel alone with their mental health. But together, we can change this. We can all stand together and support young people’s mental health.

By wearing yellow tomorrow and donating what you can, you can show your unwavering solidarity to supporting those in need, when they need it – no matter what.

To our community, we see you and we are so incredibly grateful to you for taking part. When we come together on this scale, we have such a big impact. Let’s come together once more and do the same again tomorrow.

1/ Wear something yellow

2/ Post a picture or video and use and tag and

3/ Donate what you can

Wear it loud. Wear it proud. We can’t wait to see what you get up to tomorrow.

A brilliant piece of news to share…our fantastic school meals provider, Dolce Catering presented Darcie, with her amazing prize of an iPad. Darcie was the winner across all of their schools. The task was to design a special Christmas card design for the company which has been printed and shared. A massive well done for such a brilliant design Darcie- we are so proud! Thank you to Lee from Dolce for coming along to present the prize with Darcie’s proud parents. 🌟

We were delighted to receive photos from Seaton Sluice First School when Darcie accepted her prize for winning our Christmas card competition last month!

Well done Darcie, we hope you're enjoying your iPad and we hope your very own set of designed Christmas cards helped to spread some special festive cheer to friends and family.

AMAZING post alert!
An update from Miss Brunton:

After raising just over £1,400 from our Sponsored Walk and in-school Movie Night, the 6 boxes of school supplies have arrived at Nkoaranga Primary School!

Children and staff are beyond grateful and pupils have received their stationary straight away. Urassa said the boys had inflated the footballs and started playing a match before the boxes were fully empties!

On the video, you can hear our lovely friends saying thank you to ‘Victoria’ (Miss Brunton) and also to Seaton Sluice School. An emotional and very special moment!

Huge thanks to the staff, parents or children enough for their support with such an amazing fundraiser.

We have made such a difference to this school. Thank you!
