Here's another quick interview with the students of Energy Coast UTC! Reece and Jess talk skills building, teamwork, and what they enjoyed most from their week with us.

Over the course of a week, Energy Coast UTC brought their students to Levels to get involved in some 3D modelling along the theme of the Haig Pit. We and Keith of AVimmerse were absolutely blown away by how quickly they picked up the skills, and you can catch the students' thoughts on the experience in this quick interview.

In 2024, we were in Bradford preparing to speak to more than 100 pupils about immersive technology, a collaboration with the National Science and Media Museum

Since then, that work has increasingly brought together immersive technology, education and heritage.

At the National Science and Media Museum, students 3D scanned museum objects and used them to create a virtual museum.

And last week, working with Levels Whitehaven, college students with no previous Blender experience created their own 3D mining objects for the Haig Pit project.

What we particularly enjoyed was seeing the learning journey: starting with the fundamentals of 3D modelling and, within a few days, applying those skills to real objects with a connection to local industrial heritage.

It’s been interesting to see these strands of our work increasingly coming together — digital skills, immersive storytelling and helping people engage with heritage through making.

Looking forward to developing more work in this space.
