In PE, Year 5 and 6 have been enjoying circuit activities, challenging themselves and testing their physical abilities. 💪🏃

In Science and DT, they have been putting their knowledge of series circuits into practice, exploring how circuits work and using a range of different resources to design their very own spinning fairground rides! 🎠🔋

They have been busy planning their designs and applying their scientific understanding to create exciting rides, ready to start building them this week! We can’t wait to see their fantastic creations come to life! 🌟

We have decided to relaunch our PTA with a fresh approach, new energy, and an even bigger purpose! 💛 We want to create something that goes beyond a traditional Parent Teacher Association, something that brings together parents, staff, pupils, and members of our wider community to work alongside one another and make a positive difference for everyone 💙Our pupils have designed some fabulous names and logos and we need your help to vote for our winner! 🔬👀👃👂👅 Class 1: Super Senses Scientists! 🖐️🧪

What a fantastic afternoon we’ve had becoming Super Senses Scientists! 🌟 We’ve been busy putting all five of our amazing senses to the test through lots of fun, hands-on activities!

👅 Taste: We had a blind taste test with different foods to discover how our brilliant taste buds help us taste different flavours.

👃 Smell: We used our noses to identify different scents in a blind smelling challenge!

👀 Sight: We played I Spy to test our amazing eyes and see how carefully we could observe the world around us.

🖐️ Touch: We played What’s in the Bag?, using our fingers and hands to feel objects and guess what was hiding inside!

👂 Hearing: We finished with a game of Sound Bingo, listening carefully to identify different sounds.

We’ve had so much fun exploring, investigating, making predictions and learning all about how our senses help us understand the world around us. What brilliant little scientists we have in Class 1! 🧑‍🔬✨

This week our school hosted the amazing Book Fair and our pupils couldn't wait to explore the range of books on offer! 📚 Each class spent time at the Fair as part of their daily reading time, children joined in with reading during a special Teddy Bears' Picnic (Thank you Mrs Oakes!) and we gave tasters of a few different books in our Assembly time too!

Thank you to all of the parents and carers who supported the fair and encouraged our pupils to continue their love of reading. We raised a whopping £200 of free books for our school and our Book Buddies enjoyed choosing books to add to each class's reading area. 🥰

🌿💚 A HUGE THANK YOU to our School Tidy-Up Volunteers!💚🌿

Our pupils got stuck in showing how much they care about their school and the environment! 🌍💚 🌱 C1 got busy tidying the planters 🗑️ C2 headed out on a litter pick to help keep our surroundings clean and🌼 C3 tackled the weeding and helped get our outdoor spaces looking lovely again.

A kind parent helped clear the vegetable beds, ready for replanting🥕🌿and another fabulous parent cleared our Daily Mile path of weeds and brambles 🍂

A very special shout-out goes to a wonderful member of our Lowca community who worked incredibly hard clearing old wood, dismantling the broken shed and making FOUR trips to the tip to get rid of the rubbish! 😲👏 What an amazing effort!

It is acts of kindness like these that make our school community so special. ❤️ When children, parents, volunteers and local residents work together, we can make a real difference — and show our children the importance of caring for the environment and taking pride in the place we share.

💚What an amazing time our KS1 pupils had on their very first Outdoor Adventure Trip! 💚

From canoeing across the water to an island, to working together to solve team challenges, finding hidden keys and unlocking the pirate treasure chest, they showed fantastic teamwork, problem-solving skills and perseverance every step of the way. They threw themselves into every challenge with enthusiasm, determination and huge smiles on their faces! 💪

They have made some truly awesome memories, and we couldn't be prouder of how they represented our school. ❤️

Thank you to everyone at Cumbria Outdoors Centre at Hawes End for such a fantastic experience! 🌟

Get ready for an afternoon of dancing, fun and spooky autumn treats! 👻🕷️
📅 Monday 19th October
⏰ 4:00pm – 5:00pm
💷 £3.50 per child
🎟️ Please book and pay via Arbor School shop
🧙‍♀️ Fancy dress is optional – children can come dressed up if they would like to.
There will be music, dancing, drinks and snacks for the children. 🎶🍬🧃
