🎉 Students Shine as Sir John Talbot's Continues Its Strong Record of Success 🎉

There were smiles, celebrations and plenty of proud moments at Sir John Talbot's School today as the Class of 2026 collected an excellent set of GCSE results. These achievements reflect the hard work, resilience and determination shown by our students throughout their time at SJT.

Mrs Charlotte Errington, Head of Year 11, said: "They have shown tremendous resilience, character and determination, and today's results are thoroughly deserved. We are incredibly proud of everything they have accomplished and look forward to seeing them flourish in the next stage of their journey."

Headteacher Mr Tim Stonall added: "These results are a testament to the effort, determination and character shown by our students. We are immensely proud of what they have achieved and wish every single one of them the very best for the future."

🌿📍 Another busy and exciting time for our Geography Department!

Following their recent coastal fieldwork, our Year 10 geographers headed to the River Clywedog to carry out a range of river studies as part of their GCSE Geography learning.

Students collected primary data on channel characteristics, flow velocity and river processes, helping them develop a deeper understanding of how rivers change downstream. This valuable fieldwork brought classroom concepts to life and will support their preparation for the fieldwork component of their GCSE examinations next year.

By investigating real-world geographical processes first-hand, students strengthened their data collection, analysis and observation skills while gaining a greater appreciation of the natural environment.

🎉 Outstanding A Level Success at Sir John Talbot's Sixth Form 🎉

There was a real sense of celebration at Sir John Talbot's School today as our Sixth Form students received an impressive set of A Level results.

These achievements reflect years of hard work, commitment and determination, and have opened doors to a wide range of opportunities, including university places, higher apprenticeships, employment and specialist training programmes.

We are incredibly proud of every student, not only for their academic success but also for the contributions they have made to school life, the support they have shown one another, and the resilience and ambition they have demonstrated throughout their time with us.

Headteacher Tim Stonall said:

🥾🌟 Congratulations to our Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award participants on a fantastic expedition!

Our Bronze The Duke of Edinburgh's Award expedition took place, and our students showed resilience, teamwork and determination, they tackled the challenge with great enthusiasm and positivity.

Navigation was excellent throughout, despite a few light-hearted "navigational excursions" along the way! Team morale remained high, and while some camp-cooking efforts were more successful than others, everyone looked after one another and made sure no one went hungry.

The beautiful weather made for a wonderful experience outdoors, and a particular highlight was the warm welcome from the YHA England and Wales, who kindly invited students inside to watch the World Cup semi-final after a busy day of walking.

We are incredibly proud of everything our students achieved over the two days. Their commitment, teamwork and perseverance were a credit to themselves and our school.

🏹🌟 A huge well done to Paige in 7.Ossmere.32 on another fantastic achievement in archery!

Paige had an excellent weekend competing in the Junior Archery Series, where she qualified in an impressive fourth place and achieved a new personal best. What a brilliant way to round off her competitions for this school term!

While this was her final event before the summer break, Paige already has more competitions lined up for September, and we look forward to following her continued success.

We are also incredibly proud to share that Paige has been nominated by her coach for the National Age Group Academy (NAG), the first step on the Olympic pathway for Archery. Being nominated is a significant achievement in itself and reflects the dedication, talent and commitment Paige has shown to her sport.

The selection process continues until September, and everyone at Sir John Talbot's School will be cheering Paige on every step of the way.

🥛🌟 Our Year 7 students recently enjoyed an inspiring visit from Müller UK & Ireland as part of their Tasty Careers initiative, giving them a fascinating insight into the exciting opportunities available within the food and manufacturing industry.

During the session, students explored a wide range of career pathways, from product development and marketing to engineering, logistics and beyond. They discovered just how varied the sector is and learned how different skills, interests and strengths can lead to rewarding careers.

Most importantly, the experience encouraged students to start thinking about their own futures, helping them make valuable connections between what they enjoy, what they are good at and the opportunities that could be available to them in years to come.

It was an engaging and thought-provoking session that left students buzzing with ideas and inspired to think about their ambitions and future career journeys.
