And so again my world gets that bit smaller, as the hole in my heart grows that bit bigger.

Hopefully one day i’ll find the right words, but for now my heart is completely shattered as I still try and process how it came to this.

Night Night Daddy, I’ll never be able to express how much I love you 🤍 , how much I will miss you and how much my heart aches that i cant share more of my life with you.

Forever your little girl, Flo x

I don’t see the personal development work i do as a benefit just for me.

I carry fears and doubts. Like we all do.

So I do the work.
The work to move past my own limiting beliefs, my own anxieties, so that I can let go, so that I can grow, so that i can find peace.

Whether it is in a retreat, a challenging cold water swim, a confronting breathwork session, an uncomfortable workout, an emotional therapy session, an eye opening book, the list goes on… but I do the work.

But not just for me.

Something that I am acutely aware of is to be the best I can be for the children I one day hope to have.

One of my biggest fears is passing on my fears, anxieties, limitations to my children. Transferring my trauma, negative patterns, doubts onto them only to cause them anxiety, to limit them.

I hope to be the best i can be, so they can be the best they can be.

It is not for them to try to navigate my past, to try and understand my anxieties, to navigate my confusing actions which have been dictated by my trauma.

That is my responsibility.

My responsibility to do the work.
To not just overcome my own life’s challenges, but to shift generational patterns that have leaked into my own subconscious.

My responsibility.

Because your self development work is never just about you.

How quickly do you give up?

When all you need to do, is keep showing up?

Rather than hoping for immediate results or gratification, play the long game.

No one really tells you, i guess because no one really knows, how long it takes to get your life back “on track”.

But what track? Who’s track?

Since Andrew died over 3 years ago, i felt this constant surge to live, to fill my days with life, full well knowing the fragility and also fleeting nature of life.

Ive felt this constant desire to experience it all, to ensure mediocrity doesnt play a part in the story of my life.

But that way of life, challenges the “track” so many of us want, or believe, we should be on.

The constant change and bold action challenges the belief that we should be settled, have a house, a relationship, a set path that we can see before us for the years to come.

At times i feel like im way off track, as i sit in an overwhelming state of comparison.

But more often, i feel beyond “the track”, instead flying above it, holding a birds eye view of all the tracks available, aware of how many more routes, sometimes more fulfilling routes, there are in life to follow than just one track.

My point? If your life has every been significantly taken “off track”, it can often feel like your whole life has been uprooted, thats confusing, thats painful, thats overwhelming. I know.

But don’t pressure yourself to go back to that one track, your whole life has changed, your view on life and on what really matters has changed. YOU have changed.

So allow yourself, instead of fighting for where you “think” you should be, step back, fly up, look at ALL the tracks available, and choose the one which is right for you, NOW.

Do what few believe possible, to overcome the impossible.

- - -

Stepping into as full time Director over the last few months has been a true privilege and honour.

But the truth is, trying to make a dent in the devastating statistics that still surround brain haemorrhages (where only 2 out of 5 people will survive at 1 month) is a daunting task.

The long hours, early mornings, weekend work, are nothing in comparison to the consistent concerns, anxieties, ideas as well as the persistence required on a daily basis to, not just keep showing up, but to exert an energy which will deliver real change.

But, the results we are seeing is truly providing us proof of why we do what we do…particularly the latest treatment that has come out of the research at which is helping to reduce mortality at one month by 10%…. !!!!
When 3million people a year die from brain haemorrhage, this is phenomenal.

And the shifts we have seen in our growth as a charity TY are phenomenal.

Not only have we completely stripped back everything about who we are as a charity and delivered a whole new rebrand and strategy, We are so proud of the companies and individuals who are supporting us to make this change in the PREVENTION AND TREATMENT OF BRAIN HAEMORRHAGES:

Leyland Trucks Helping Hand

I am so proud of and the values that we uphold not to accept these statistics, but to find a way, create a new path, do things differently, overcome the impossible until we create the solution we all desperately want and need.

This week I have been acutely reminded how just how fragile life is.

How things can change in a second.

How our health is not something we should take advantage of.

How precious the day, today, is because tomorrow is so unknown.

So here are 5 reminders on this sunny Sunday:

1) Your life is nothing without your health and everything with it. Prioritise properly.

2) Substance over image: what i mean by that, is make the vehicle that carries you through life drive better than just look good but cant leave the house.

3) Start asking yourself, are you giving your body adequate movement, rest, nourishment? If yes, then ask, could you do more??

4) Quick thinking self care is some sort of obnoxious indulgence. It is not. Your life is a direct reflection of how you care for yourself.

5) Life is short, but its also long. So look after your health so you have the energy and strength to live your life to the full. And remember these two words, longevity and capability.

Some MUSINGS as we embark on today.

1. When life is overwhelming and confusing, run towards your fears and do what you are afraid of.

2. Surround yourself with people who hold the kind of values and morals you aspire to.

3. Life goes on. Its not the same. But it goes on.

4. Life isnt easy either way, so always do the right thing.

5. When it f**king sucks, and it will, if nothing else, Just get dressed and go outside.

6. No matter how hard, refuse to let the bad days win.

7. Tomorrow is a new day. Feel the emotions today, but tomorrow, get out of bed with purpose and plan and make it count.

8. Talk though your thoughts, it helps.

“Pain in this life is unavoidable, but the pain we create avoiding pain is avoidable”.

reel (on my story now) reminded me of just true this is, and how real it has been in my own life.

It is our ability to sit with the pain, rather than ignore it, that will define our future.

We cannot ignore pain by distraction, by busy-ness, by numbing.

We must feel it, listen to it and learn from it so we can move on from it, so that we do not limit the potential of our future, because of the experiences from our past.

We all, at some point or another feel pain, so why do we feel we are in any way inferior to others if we experience that pain, face into that pain and talk through that pain?

Because, the more you face it, the more you talk about it, the more work you do on it, the more you will be able to understand it, forgive it and move on from it.

I see countless people carry pain, grief, trauma that they brush off because they don’t want to deal with it.

But it is by dealing with it, you will be able to move forward.

The trick is just start, perhaps try journaling, listening to relevant podcasts, starting with a therapist or a coach.

No matter what it is just start.

March was one of my faves.
I know in many ways i have worked to create this life.

I have challenged expectations and social norms.

Stepped away from any milestone that is masked as an “ideal”.

Leaped into the unknown.

Been uncomfortable, lost, anxious, depressed.

But still taken risk after risk to find what really makes me feel alive.

But I NEVER ever take for granted just how lucky i am.

Lucky I was born in a society which is (largely) fair and equal.

Lucky I was given a good education.

Lucky I was brought up given the option to explore hobbies and interests.

Lucky I am fit and healthy.

Lucky, simply because of where I was born.

I never take for granted the fact that it was because of that luck, that I was able to take those next steps, and able to create this life.

I have lived many lives and seen many other people around the world live their own version of life, and very few people get those chances.
Very few people are that lucky.

If you are reading this, you are lucky.

So don’t waste your chances.

Don’t moan about what you don’t have, look at what you do.
And then build on it.
