Summer is a great time to spread a little kindness and brighten someone's day. Can you complete some of these kind acts?

✅ Make a card or picture for a family member or friend
✅ Share a toy, game or book with someone
✅ Pick up litter and help care for your local area

Why not keep a kindness diary and see how many thoughtful things you can do this week?

Remember, even the smallest act of kindness can make a big difference to someone's day.

Use anything you find around your home or garden to create a piece of summer-inspired art. You could:

🌻 Make a nature picture using fallen leaves, petals or twigs
🏖️ Create a beach, garden or holiday scene
📸 Take a photo of your masterpiece and share it with us!

There's no right or wrong way to be creative, just have fun and let your imagination shine.

Head outside and see how many natural treasures you can spot. Can you find:

🌼 A colourful flower
🪶 A feather
🐞 An interesting insect
🪨 A uniquely shaped stone

Why not create a nature collage, draw your favourite discovery, or keep a list of everything you find?

Remember to respect nature by leaving living plants and wildlife where they belong.

🌟 A Year to Remember at Primrose Lane! 🌟

As another fantastic school year comes to a close, we'd like to say a huge thank you to the entire Primrose Lane community.

From our youngest children taking their first steps on their learning journey to our oldest pupils preparing for their next adventure, this year has been filled with growth, achievement, creativity and friendship.

We are incredibly proud of everything our pupils have accomplished, both in and beyond the classroom. Through their hard work, resilience and enthusiasm, they have truly made Primrose Lane a wonderful place to learn and grow.

Thank you to our pupils, families, staff and wider community for your continued support throughout the year.

This prestigious award recognises our commitment to providing high-quality PE, sport and physical activity opportunities for all pupils. From strong participation in PE and extracurricular activities, to exciting competitions, Sports Leaders and valuable community partnerships, this achievement reflects the dedication of our whole school community.

🌟 Getting more than “fine” at the school gate... 🌟

If "How was school today?" is usually met with a shrug or a quick "fine", you're not alone!

Sometimes, a different question can unlock a much better conversation. Try asking:

💬 What made you laugh today?
💬 What was the best part of your day?
💬 If you were the teacher tomorrow, what would you change?
💬 Which friend needed cheering up today?

These simple chats help children build vocabulary, reflect on their learning and share their feelings in a relaxed way.

✨ A little conversation can go a long way. Why not try one new question this week and see where it leads?

🌟 Phonics Superstars on the Loose! 👀

We are incredibly proud of our Year 1 children who have achieved an amazing 94% pass rate in this year’s Phonics Screening! 🎉

Last week also marked our final visit from the Jerry Clay English Hub as part of our Graduate Phonics Audit. We are delighted to have been recognised as a Graduate School, reflecting the dedication and excellence of our staff in delivering high-quality early reading and phonics teaching.

It was a fantastic day celebrating all things reading at Primrose Lane, and we couldn’t be prouder of our children and staff for this wonderful achievement. 📖✨

Free Family Activities and picnic food for the Summer Holidays
Thanks to support from Tesco Clifton Moor, Wetherby Foodbank are running a series of free community events during the summer holidays.

Market Scavenger Hunt & Picnic Giveaway
Thursday 23 July 2026 – Wetherby Market Square, 10am-2pm
Thursday 20 August 2026 – Wetherby Market Square, 10am-2pm
Families can take part in a free scavenger hunt around the market, with the chance to win a picnic hamper.

Community Picnic Events:
Friday 24 July 2026 – Community Café & Advice Hub, St James Church Room
Friday 21 August 2026 – Community Café & Advice Hub
Free food, refreshments and activities for local families.
