We have a had a great summer recruiting and preparing to open our new school, Airfield Primary Academy, on our temporary site, next door to Haywood Village Academy. The site is safe and ready for play - both inside and out.

We have received great support from families, local residents, contractors, and the Cabot Learning Federation teams that have worked behind the scenes in finance, HR, facilities, IT and communications. Thank you all!

On Monday, we open for our first Reception class, in November we move to the new building and in January, we open our Nursery and Preschool.

We are very excited to welcome our founding children to a school that will provide joy-filled education through meaningful, engaging and enriching opportunities that enable all children to love their learning and thrive.

Our school office will close this afternoon (Friday 31st July) for the summer holidays. If you have an urgent enquiry, please email us ([email protected]) as we will check our inbox periodically and respond where needed. School office reopens on Monday 24th August.

As we enjoy the summer break, we're already looking forward to September when we will open our doors and give a very special welcome to our new Reception Class of 2026 as they begin their journey with us.

We hope all our families have a wonderful summer, and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Airfield Primary Academy welcomes Reception Class.

Airfield Primary Academy was delighted to welcome its September 2026 Reception class for a wonderful afternoon of playtime fun during its Stay and Play sessions.

Children had the opportunity to explore their new classroom while taking part in a range of exciting activities. From riding bikes and splashing in water play to making imaginative mud cakes, there were plenty of smiles as the children began their school journey.

The event provided a fantastic opportunity for children and their families to become familiar with the school environment ahead of September. It was especially heartwarming to see new friendships beginning to blossom as the children played and learned together.

Terri Knightley, Operations Manager, said: “It was wonderful to welcome our newest Reception children and their families to Airfield Primary Academy.

“Seeing the children explore their new classroom with such confidence, curiosity and excitement was a real joy."

“Events like these help children feel happy and settled before they start school, and we are looking forward to welcoming them back in September for the start of an exciting new chapter.”

Airfield Primary Academy had a really positive visit from Ofsted today in what is referred to as the pre-opening registration inspection.

It was great to share our plans for education, as well as the recruitment, safeguarding, and health and safety preparation that has already happened, and will continue to go on to ensure our children “love their learning and thrive.”
