One of the things I love about yoga is that it gives us things to think about long after we've rolled up our mats.

The principles of yoga aren't just ideas for when we're practising. They can change the way we see ourselves, other people and the everyday situations we find ourselves in.

So I'm starting a new little series: Yoga in Real Life.

No rushing. No cooking. No list of things to get done. Just a few hours to come back to yourself. 🍂

I don’t think most mums need another thing to achieve.

Another list to tick off. Another place to be. Or another thing that’s supposed to make us “better”.

Sometimes, I think we just need a day where nobody needs anything from us.

A day where we can slow down without feeling guilty about it.

Where we can eat a nice lunch without making it, clearing it away or asking anyone else what they want.

Where we can move our body, breathe, rest, chat, be quiet… whatever we need that day.

That’s really where the idea came from.

By late September, the summer is over, the kids are back into their routines and things have started to settle back into their usual rhythm. There’s just a little more headspace.

And I thought… what if we used some of that space for ourselves?

That’s the thinking behind my Back to you: Autumn Retreat day.
