Summer holiday club catch up 🌳🌳
It’s been a couple of days of being back to school but we wanted to catch you all up on our summer of fun!! 🤩🌳❤️
Our 6 weeks of holiday club went so quickly! We genuinely had the best time with the best forest schoolers!
We never fail to be amazed by the creativity of our forest schoolers. This year, the biggest trend of the summer was…knitting 🧶!!! Yes that’s right, a skill that has proved the test of time and now, we have 4 to 11 year old experts! This wasn’t just ordinary knitting, it was finger knitting. It took skill, concentration, perseverance and determination but so many children picked it up and so many absolutely loved it. Even Otto ended up with a scarf!! 🧣 ❤️
We have to give thanks to one of longest serving forest schoolers for this new craze, so thank you Maya, we will forever remember the summer of knitting 🧶 🥰❤️
(This did progress into children whittling knitting needles and having a go at traditional knitting!)
Another big hit of the summer was the quality and quantity of our blackberries! We picked endless amounts, sampling them at every opportunity. And then came the idea to crush them, and use sticks to dip into the juices and create…blackberry tattoos!!! This became very popular with us all sporting the most interesting designs on our arms, hands and in some cases…faces!!
Another favourite activity was fossil finding! We had a huge interest in cracking rocks to see if we could find crystals and fossils and we can report that we had some very interesting finds…we also know we have some budding palaeontologists amongst us 🥰
As well as the new trends, all the classic forest school activities were as popular as ever 🌳
We whittled endless sticks, hammered so many nails, used piles of wood creating the most amazing pieces, painted beautiful pictures, used the clay to make wonderful designs, cooked up fabulous dishes in the mud kitchen, brushed up our fire lighting skills, played with our friends, made new friends, drank hot chocolate, toasted marshmallows, explored the woodland, played many games of ‘eagle in the nest’, relaxed in the hammocks, drew wonderful pictures, and swung and flipped endlessly on the very popular bars!! Phew… no wonder if went so fast…we were having far too much fun ❤️🥰🌳
Thank you so much to our wonderful forest schoolers for the best summer, we have thoroughly enjoyed your company and look forward to seeing some of you again in October 🎃
Enjoy your time back at school and we’ll see you all soon 🌳❤️🌳
We’ve opened a forest school 🌳🌳
