I’ve been talking about Eva Cassidy this week and it made me want to sing this beautiful song…

So much honesty.

It's the fear of it.

The difference isn't that they never crack.

It's that they understand why it happens and they don't let it knock their confidence.

🎤 Quick question...

How many notes have you not sung because you were worried your voice might crack?

Not because you couldn’t sing them.

Not because they were out of your range.

But because that little voice in your head whispered:

“Don’t go for it... your voice might break.” 😳

I see this all the time.

One crack turns into doubt.

Doubt turns into tension.

Tension turns into avoiding certain notes altogether.

Before long, you’re singing around the problem instead of solving it.

The irony?

Often it’s the fear that’s causing more issues than the crack itself.

That’s exactly what we’ll be tackling in our next Voice Unleashed Live Coaching Call.

Reading reviews like this never gets old ❤️

One of the things I'm most proud of as a vocal coach isn't helping someone sing higher, belt louder or improve their technique...

It's helping people build confidence.

Because singing isn't just about notes.

It's about self-belief.

It's about finding your voice.

It's about having the confidence to let people hear it.

One thing I love about teaching is that it really doesn't matter how old you are.

I've taught children.

I've taught professional performers.

I've taught people who've sung their whole lives.

And I've taught people who haven't sung since school and are absolutely convinced they've left it too late 😱

Spoiler alert...

They haven't.

Some of my favourite moments are seeing somebody walk through the door feeling nervous, apologising for not being very good, and then watching them surprise themselves a few months later.

That's exactly why I do what I do.

..and about 30 seconds thinking about what they're going to say between songs 😂

Yet some of the most memorable moments in a performance happen when the music stops.

A simple story.

A funny moment.

A genuine connection.

A few words that make an audience feel like they're part of the experience rather than just watching it.

If the thought of speaking to an audience makes you more nervous than singing to them, trust me, you're not alone!

I've worked with plenty of singers who can tackle challenging songs but completely freeze when it comes to introducing themselves or talking between numbers.

The good news?

Stage presence isn't something you're born with.

It's something you learn.
