After a very busy summer of building, creating and transforming, we are so excited to finally say… our brand-new baby room is OPEN! 🥰🧸

A huge thank you to our amazing team for all their patience, hard work and dedication throughout the summer. We couldn’t have done it without you! ❤️

We are absolutely thrilled with how it has turned out and can’t wait to welcome our tiniest Little Starlings into their beautiful new space! 🌟👶🏼✨

📣 Autism-Friendly Soft Play Session at The Square

The Square, Wells run a monthly SEN Soft Play Session. These sessions were previously run by the local CAOT team and are now hosted by Autism Transition Workers under the New Virtual School, Somerset Council.

This session offers a non-judgemental, understanding environment where children and young people can feel accepted, while parents and carers have the opportunity to connect with other families who share similar experiences.

📅 Next Session: Wednesday 8 July 2026
⏰ Time: 4:00pm – 6:00pm
📍 Where: The Square
🔄 When: 2nd Wednesday of every month (excluding school holidays)
💷 Cost: £5 per child
👶 Babies under 18 months: Free
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Adults: Free

✅ You no longer need to be pre-registered with Somerset Council.
✅ However, if you are new to the service and not already known to the Autism Transition Team, please make contact before booking.

☀️🌸 Warm Weather Reminder for Parents – This Week During the Heatwave 🌸☀️

As the temperatures are set to stay high this week during the heatwave, please remember to send your child in with:

🧢 A sun hat
🧴 Sun cream already applied (and named if possible)
💧 A water bottle
👕 Light, loose-fitting clothing to help keep them cool

We also plan to do lots of cool, calming activities indoors and will be limiting outdoor time during the hottest parts of the day to keep all children safe and comfortable ☁️💛

🦉 WISE Workshop: Supporting Siblings of Disabled Children & Adults 🦉

We’re pleased to share a brand-new online WISE Workshop, delivered in partnership with Sibs - for brothers and sisters – the UK’s only charity dedicated to supporting people who have grown up with a disabled brother or sister.

Sibs provides invaluable information, support, and training for young siblings, adult siblings, parents, and professionals, helping families better understand and support sibling experiences.

This workshop has been rescheduled and will now only go ahead if we have enough parent interest.

🌟 Exciting News for Our Support Groups! 🌟

As part of our 10-year celebrations, we’re delighted to announce a new name for our much-loved Chill and Chat groups. Moving forward, they will be known as
“Finding Your Way Support Groups.”

This change helps us bring all of our parent support groups, online, in person, and within our closed Facebook community, together under one clear and welcoming identity.

💬 What stays the same?
Everything you value most. Our groups will continue to be a safe, friendly space where you can:

🔹Meet other parent carers
🔹Share experiences and ask questions
🔹Find understanding and support
🔹Build connections and friendships

Our groups are open to all parent carers of children and young people (aged 0–25) with additional needs and/or disabilities. No diagnosis is needed.

🎉 We’ll be sharing more details over the coming days, and as part of our 10 Days of Celebration, each group session will include a little extra something to make it even more special!

Dingley's Promise are hosting a series of facilitated online sessions for parents of children with SEND under 8 to discuss early education.

On 23rd February, the Department for Education published its SEND white paper Every Child Achieving and Thriving, outlining plans to reform support across early years, schools and colleges. These online sessions will explore the key proposals, break down the consultation, and give families the opportunity to share their experiences, discuss concerns, and have their voices heard.
