EBSA (also known as Anxiety-Based School Avoidance) describes children and young people who struggle to attend school due to overwhelming feelings like anxiety.

For this year‘s Children’s Mental Health week, the MHST service hosted a parent workshop at our SEND coffee afternoon, and attended one of our staff meetings sharing training around the theme of Big Emotions. Over the next two terms, the MHST service will run workshops for our children on managing their big emotions, starting with Years 5 and 6!

Struggling at home? Need support navigating Somerset's SEND systems? Wondering what services, funding
and support is available in our area?

We have invited Somerset Parent Forum to our next SEND coffee afternoon at 2.30pm - 3.30pm on the
16th October.

We are extending this event to the wider community in Wells, so please do invite any friends or
family who may be interested. There will also be an opportunity to chat with Sara Quick, our school SENCo and
Rhian Brook, our ELSA Lead.

No need to book - just sign-in at the school reception at 2.30pm.

Somerset Parent Forum is a parent-led organisation who support families with navigating SEND issues and
improving outcomes for young people. They also offer Chill and Chat sessions in Wells and the surrounding
areas.
