Another good effort for the 8-man year 10 cricket team today. Dodging the showers they were only beaten by 29 runs against Wilmington GS.

Congratulations to Will (yr12) who was selected to act as 12th man for England Lions in their match vs South Africa last week. Will was chosen by Kent to support the England squad for the match, which is a significant achievement and a brilliant experience. It won’t be long until he’s in the squad for real, we hope.

The year 7 cricket team rounded off the half term in style, securing an exciting win with 3 balls to spare against Radnor House in the Kent Cup on Friday afternoon. They remain unbeaten in the season, and we’re looking forward to a break before more league play after half term.

We had a really fun afternoon in the sunshine playing our friends at Chis & Sid at u13 and u15. Both games ended in defeat, unfortunately, but our teams produced some excellent performances. Well done to all the players

I am not really sure where to start with this game. BGS lost the toss and were put into bat first. Another huge score of 67 for Suchet who was well supported by others from the top order enabled us to post a total of 136. Langley steadily made their way to that total and needed 7 from the final over. With 2 balls to go the scores were level. A dot ball followed by a run out means that BGS go through having lost 5 wickets in the innings compared to Langley who lost 6. Definitely the most entertaining game of cricket I have seen in my time as a teacher at BGS. A great win and through to the next round of the Kent Cup. Congratulations! A superb squad performance.

Our year 9 & 10 athletes (and our 6th form prefects) had a great day out at the Bexley Champs today, with some fantastic performances across a range of events. Well done everyone

The Y9 BGS team beat CSGS in the North Kent Cup in an interesting contest. Both teams played some lovely shots. CSGS scored 79 and BGS got it with just over an over left to play. Great game despite some fine rain and chilly conditions. Well played! Same again for our next fixture on Wednesday.

The girls enjoyed a fantastic day at the Outdoor 8s in Sidcup, showing great resilience despite some very changeable weather.
The U13 team delivered an impressive performance, including an outstanding win against Colfe’s with no players out, superb batting from Maria and Nehi, alongside excellent wicketkeeping from Eve. They were unlucky to narrowly lose to Weald by just 4 runs, but bounced back brilliantly with a convincing win over Bennett, losing only one wicket. Overall, the team secured an excellent 3rd place finish, just behind strong rivals Chis and Sid.
In the afternoon, the U15s continued the momentum. They secured a remarkable win against Colfe’s in just 8 balls, thanks to excellent batting from Florence and Shriya. This was followed by a dominant victory over Chis and Sid, with only one wicket lost. Two very tight matches followed, with narrow losses to Weald of Kent (by just two balls) and Bromley (on the final ball). Despite this, the team’s phenomenal run total meant they finished as joint winners and have qualified to represent the region in June.
A huge well done to all players for their effort, teamwork and determination throughout what proved to be a challenging day of weather.

On Friday, we invited our highest Year 7 co-curricular attendees to Beckenham to see Kent play Durham, and the England captain Ben Stokes. We also enjoyed a game of cricket dodgeball and relay cricket.

Well done to our brilliant year 10 sports leaders, who were fantastic in delivering a really fun tennis activity afternoon for 6 local primary schools. Despite the chilly weather, our visiting year 4s had a tremendous time, and were so grateful to the leaders for their efforts. Well done everyone
