I never expected to win a lock-picking competition.

What started as a practical skill for my business became one of the most valuable lessons of my career.

Sometimes the interests that don't seem to fit your CV end up teaching you the most about yourself. Careers aren't always ladders. More often, they're jigsaws, and some pieces don't make sense until much later.

If there's a skill or hobby you keep coming back to, it might be worth paying attention to.

Can AI replace coaches, tutors, or therapists?

As AI becomes part of everyday life, more people are asking where technology ends and human support begins.

AI can explain, organise, and suggest ideas. But coaching, tutoring, and therapy involve something different: empathy, trust, accountability, judgement, and understanding the person behind the problem.

The future is unlikely to be AI *or* humans.

It is more likely to be AI supporting people, while humans continue doing what they do best: helping others grow, change, and move forward.

Our latest article explores what AI can do, what human professionals uniquely offer, and how both can work together.

Sometimes burnout doesn't look like a breakdown.

Sometimes it looks like:

• Waking up tired, even after resting
• Losing interest in work you once enjoyed
• Struggling to switch off when the working day ends
• Feeling stuck, but unsure what needs to change

The hardest part is often knowing where to start.

The right career coach can help you understand what is happening, rebuild confidence, set healthier boundaries, and work out what the next step looks like.

Our latest guide explores how to find a career coach for burnout recovery, what questions to ask, and how to choose support that feels right for you.

Running a business often feels less like running a race and more like competing in a decathlon you never trained for.

Some events suit you naturally. Others leave you wondering how everyone else seems to make them look easy.

That thought became the inspiration for my latest piece, *The Decathlon You Never Trained For*.

If you've ever found yourself facing a part of business you never expected to be responsible for, I think you'll relate.

I'd love to know... which event are you finding hardest at the moment?

"I've been where you are."

It's one of the most powerful lines you'll find on a coach's profile.

And for good reason. A coach who has lived through something similar can bring a level of understanding that can't simply be learned from a book.

But there is another question worth asking:

Can they help you find *your* path, or are they quietly guiding you towards theirs?

Our latest guide explores what a coach's story really tells you, what to look for, and the questions worth asking before you commit.

🏆 The Empty Rows on the Honours Board. It's easy to focus on what others have already achieved. But every honours board started with empty spaces, and every success began long before a name was written in gold.

Whether you're looking for a new direction, building confidence, changing careers, or simply trying to move forward, your next chapter hasn't been written yet.

Our latest blog explores why the blank rows matter most—and how the right coach can help you decide what comes next.

We all know the story: the tortoise wins, the hare loses because he got overconfident. 🐢

But that's not really the point of the fable.

The tortoise was never going to beat the hare on the hare's terms. Different conditions produce different outcomes, and what actually mattered was what the tortoise had to build, quietly, just to stay in the race at all.

Most workplaces are built for the hare: speed, quick thinking, performing under pressure. For anyone who thinks or works differently, especially neurodivergent people, that's not just uncomfortable. It's a mismatch between how the world is built and how they actually work.

Our latest blog explores what gets quietly built instead: patience, preparation, and a kind of resilience that tends to matter more over time, not less.

Some of the most capable people in any workplace are quietly managing something their manager has never once asked about.

Speaking anxiety is common, often invisible, and frequently mishandled. Not through unkindness, but through simply not knowing what to do.

Our latest blog is written for managers who want to get this right. It covers what speaking anxiety actually looks like at work, the mistakes well-meaning managers make, and the small adjustments that can make a real difference.

If someone on your team might benefit from working with a Speaking and Impact Coach, our directory is a good place to start.
