We can’t wait to welcome the STEM Roadshow to our school! 🔬⚙️

On 15th October, our Year 7 and Year 8 students will take part in the exciting Material World: Engineering the Future STEM session!

Through interactive demonstrations and real-world engineering challenges, students will explore how materials shape the technologies we use every day and discover the innovations that could transform our future.

From advanced materials used in aerospace and engineering to sustainable solutions for tomorrow’s world, this promises to be a fantastic opportunity for our students to get creative, solve problems and explore the exciting range of careers available in STEM.

We’re looking forward to an inspiring day of discovery, innovation and hands-on learning as we help encourage the next generation of scientists, engineers and innovators!

Calling all our budding bakers! Get creative in the kitchen this Halloween and enter our Halloween Bake-Off competition!

Whether you whip up spooky cupcakes, creepy cookies or a terrifyingly tasty cake, we can't wait to see your Halloween-inspired creations!

🏆 Every emailed entry will earn points towards your House total, so get baking and help your House climb the leaderboard!

Today is ‘World Mental Health Day 2026’.

Next week in year group assemblies, we will be hearing from Healthy Heads, who started working with us this year in school. Many of our students have engaged well with this service already, some even starting this work in their primary schools.

We will also be hearing from Kooth early next year to remind our students that they offer a safe, free anonymous messaging service- which a lot of our students currently use and rate quite highly.

We also have our school counselling team from Moment of Truth Wellbeing who are based in school on a Wednesday and a Thursday. This team can offer 1-2-1 counselling appointments and a drop in service.

There are many services that as a school we can refer in to and will support your child/ren as best we can to ensure that they receive the correct level of support.

Year 7 Make a Splash!

Over the past few weeks, our Year 7 students have enjoyed visiting Sunderland’s Marine Activity Centre, taking part in a range of exciting water-based activities!

Linked to our enrichment programme and house structure, this term’s focus has been the River Wear. Students have had the opportunity to develop new friendships, build confidence, strengthen resilience and improve their teamwork skills — all while working together to make their boats faster!

A fantastic opportunity to learn new skills, embrace challenges and make memories along the way. Well done, Year 7!

Extracurricular Expert

This week, Jessica impressed Miss Miller with an exceptional performance at her first Central Venue League event on Thursday evening, scoring an incredible nine goals for her team. Her talent, enthusiasm, dedication, and commitment to extracurricular opportunities at Oxclose are truly commendable, and she should be immensely proud of her achievement. We look forward to celebrating her continued success both in and out of school.
