On Saturday, Tommy C in year 8 competed for Wigan Schools at the Greater Manchester Schools Athletics Championships, taking part in the Junior Boys (Year 8/9) 800m. He recorded a time of 2 minutes 13 seconds, finishing 3rd place! This is a great achievement competing at your own age but to achieve this against students a year older makes it even more remarkable.

Following this result, Tommy has been selected to represent Greater Manchester in the Junior Boys 800m at the Mason Trophy Inter‑Counties Championships this Saturday.

Well done Tommy and good luck.

A big congratulations to the 3 teams of Mathematicians that competed in the Edge Hill University Mathematics Challenge. Pupils were asked to complete maths problems and to present their ideas in a unique way. It was great to see pupils express their creativity and demonstrate their strong teamwork. The ways in which they decided to present their answers ranged from PowerPoints to videos to 3-D posters. The pupils made it to the penultimate round and should be proud of their efforts. Well done!

Lessons in the Limelight - Art

Miss Gebelli’s Year 9 art classes have been working really hard on their research pages for their new project about paper cut art. They have looked into a variety of different artists and styles. Pupils have took great pride in the presentation of their work, with very pleasing results. Pupils have enjoyed learning about this topic so far and presenting their research into it. The next step in the project is producing their very own paper cut art. Well done Year 9, keep it up!

Lessons in the Limelight - Art

Miss Gebelli’s Year 10 GCSE Art class have been working on their project ā€˜Beautiful Birds’. Everyone has really enjoyed this project with some incredible outcomes so far. Pupils have used a mixture of materials in their project such as water colour paint, pencil and oil pastel, to name just a few. Looking at different artists such as Abby Diamond and Paula Swisher has given the pupils inspiration to develop their own styles further. Their final pieces are of exceptional quality. Very well done to Miss Gebelli’s Year 10 art class!

Some of our pupils have been hard at work planting in our newly created allotment, and what a joy it has been to see their enthusiasm grow alongside the seeds they have sown. From preparing the soil to carefully placing each seed, they showed great care, teamwork, and pride in their work. 🌱

We look forward to seeing the progress they make over the next few weeks.
