Really excited to get started with the new term in just 2½ weeks, and my private lessons will be starting back from next week.

It’s looking like a busy September already, with only 3 half-hour private lesson slots still available.

Another school year is almost wrapped up...

Just a couple more days of teaching in schools before the summer holidays begin. It's been brilliant to see so many students grow in confidence, develop new skills and, most importantly, enjoy making music.

A huge thank you to all the students, parents and school staff for your support throughout the year. Seeing young drummers progress from their first lesson to confidently playing along to songs is one of the best parts of the job.

I'll be taking a short break from 20th - 31st July before continuing lessons from my home studio over the summer. If you've been thinking about giving drumming a go, now is a great time to start before the new school year begins.

In lessons I like to use the Trinity Rock & Pop syllabus, which features a great range of popular songs and is a fantastic way for students to learn through real music.

Each song comes with three play-along options:
• Full version with drums
• Click version for timing practice
• Drumless version (so the student becomes the drummer)

All songs can also be slowed down to suit the student’s ability, helping to build confidence, improve timing, and feel like they’re playing in a band from the start.

Grades range from Initial for beginners through to Grade 8.

I have a few limited lesson slots available Monday to Thursday, with three different drum kits set up to choose from. Message me if you’d like to find out more!

A brilliant weekend spent working on a live video shoot at a fantastic studio in Southampton.

Such a beautiful space to play in — great acoustics, a proper live room feel, and an incredible mix of vintage and modern gear. Some seriously high-end microphones and more options than you could ever need… always a pleasure working with these musicians, we all had a lovely time!

I had a lovely afternoon visiting two first schools this afternoon. It was brilliant meeting so many enthusiastic students and giving them a flavour of what drum lessons are all about.

We performed some of We Will Rock You together, explored how drumming links to times tables, looked at Italian dynamic markings to build language skills, read a little music notation, and even played some fun memory games to learn the parts of the drum kit.

The students were full of energy, curiosity and had some fantastic input — such a pleasure to share my love of drumming with them.

Throwback to 2014!

This is Freddie, one of my weekend students from Surrey when I was running my drum teaching business there. Back then, he was full of enthusiasm, practicing endlessly on his Roland electronic kit and rocking out to his favourite band — Green Day.

He performed '99 Revolutions' during a practice session at Absolute Music on a summer trip to Dorset — a moment I still remember well.

Fast forward to now, Freddie has just graduated from the University of Essex. It’s been amazing to see how far he’s come since those early lessons. He was an absolute joy to teach — always positive, dedicated, and full of energy.

Wishing him all the best in whatever comes next — he’s earned it.
