👀💡Ashley Park Insights!
This week, we'd like to tell you about one of the key strategies we use at Ashley Park: Ask, Accept, Develop (AAD).
AAD is one of the strategies we use to make sure we continue to improve the care, education and support we provide for our autistic pupils. It helps us create an environment where every individual can feel understood, valued and supported to succeed.
The strategy recognises that every autistic person is unique. While autistic individuals may share some common traits, their strengths, needs and abilities can vary greatly. Some may be highly independent and academically able, while others may need more support in their daily lives and learning.
AAD was developed using current autism research and guidance from autistic people with lived experience, alongside input from clinical professionals, teachers and teaching assistants. This helps ensure the approach is practical, inclusive and relevant to the needs of all autistic individuals.
The foundations of the strategy are simple:
💬 Ask – Listen to and understand the autistic person's perspective.
💚 Accept – Value and respect individual differences and unique ways of experiencing the world.
🌱 Develop – Provide the support, opportunities and skills each person needs to thrive.
At Ashley Park Primary, we understand that every autistic individual is different. By following the principles of Ask, Accept, Develop, we create a positive and inclusive environment where every pupil can thrive.
