Happy Birthday Blue Coat! The Blue Coat Schools have been providing an education for the Walsall community for an incredible 370 years!

This week is the Blue Coat Festival with an exhibition of children's work on display at St. Matthew's Church. The Walsall Archives have also provided a fascinating display of historical sources linked to the Blue Coat Schools.

To mark this special anniversary year, a book recording the history of the Blue Coat Schools in Walsall since their foundation in 1656 has been published.

The annual Blue Coat Sunday service will be taking place at St. Matthew's Church this Sunday (8th March) starting at 10.45am. The theme of the service is Centuries of Service, celebrating the provision of a Blue Coat education for thousands of children over the last four centuries!

Before and during the service, there will be musical performances by children from the Infant, Junior and Secondary Blue Coat Schools. Andy Wolfe, Interim Chief Executive of the National Society for Education (Church of England & Church in Wales) and Chief Education Officer for the Church of England will be speaking during the service.

After the service Old Blues are invited to enjoy a special Sunday lunch at Blue Coat Secondary Academy. Follow this link to book a place: https://stmatthewswalsall.churchsuite.com/events/zsemw8xn

All the Blue Coat Infant and Junior children participated in a wonderful Christmas Service to end the term. The children sang a cantata - One Night in Bethlehem - which provided a stunning re-telling of the Christmas Story, enhanced by the nursery children forming the nativity tableau! All at Blue Coat wish the whole community a wonderful Christmas full of hope, love, peace and joy.
