🔎🤝 Midweek highlights from NEAT Careers Week demonstrate the value of sustained employer partnership.

Across our schools, pupils have explored apprenticeship pathways, technical qualifications, university routes and emerging industries. They have asked informed questions about progression, resilience and the realities of working life.

Tomorrow, both secondary schools will host Careers Fairs for pupils from Year 7 to Year 11, bringing together a broad range of employers under one roof. These events provide meaningful exposure and reinforce the message that career awareness develops over time.

We are pleased to invite businesses and community organisations to join us at Benfield School on Friday 27 March for the NEAT Business Breakfast.

Since May 2025, we have strengthened our careers and personal development programme across the Trust. We have sharpened our Gatsby Benchmark delivery, improved meaningful employer encounters, and are building towards the Government’s Work Experience ambition.

This event is about collaboration. It is about bringing education and employers together to create purposeful opportunities for young people across Newcastle and Hartlepool.

Throughout the week, pupils will take part in assemblies, employer talks, workshops and structured sector sessions aligned with the theme Know Your Future. Activities have been designed to raise aspiration, build knowledge of pathways and strengthen confidence in decision‑making.

This is a visible expression of our Cradle to Careers strategy in action. It reflects our long‑term commitment to embedding careers education within personal development rather than treating it as a standalone event.

Clear progression routes do not appear by chance. They are built through structured employer engagement, honest dialogue about expectations, and shared responsibility between schools and businesses.

During NEAT Careers Week, pupils across our Trust will engage with employers, explore sectors they may not previously have considered and make clearer connections between classroom learning and future opportunity. For some pupils, a single conversation will broaden aspiration. For others, repeated exposure will gradually build direction and purpose.

This week demonstrates how our Cradle to Careers strategy works in practice. It reinforces the idea that career thinking is not limited to Year 11, but develops progressively from primary through to post‑16 pathways.
