As your local councillors across Wakefield Rural, we are delighted to announce an exciting programme of youth outreach that will take prevention, education, support and positive engagement directly into our communities.
We are proud to be supporting Mick Amos and HMP Not-4-Me to deliver regular preventative and educational outreach for children and young people across our local areas.
📅 We will predominantly deliver on Fridays from around 4pm, while remaining flexible so we can respond to where engagement is most needed.

🛝⚽🏉 𝐓𝐀𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐎𝐔𝐓𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐂𝐇 𝐓𝐎 𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐆 𝐏𝐄𝐎𝐏𝐋𝐄
We will rotate around local parks, football clubs and rugby clubs, as well as other places where children and young people meet and spend their time.
Rather than waiting for young people to come to us, we are going directly to them – right in the heart of their communities.
🚔 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐇𝐌𝐏 𝐍𝐎𝐓-𝟒-𝐌𝐄 𝐏𝐑𝐈𝐒𝐎𝐍 𝐕𝐀𝐍
A key part of the programme will be the HMP Not-4-Me Prison Van, providing an interactive and educational experience designed to help bring the realities and consequences of crime to life.
Young people will have the opportunity to step inside, experience a prison-style environment and take part in conversations around crime, anti-social behaviour, consequences, the criminal justice system and the impact that choices can have on their future, their families and their communities.
Importantly, this isn’t about frightening young people. It’s about education, prevention and early intervention – creating an opportunity to ask questions, have honest conversations and understand that choices have consequences while highlighting positive alternatives.
🧑🧑🧒🧒 𝐓𝐀𝐋𝐊, 𝐀𝐒𝐊 𝐐𝐔𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒 & 𝐄𝐍𝐆𝐀𝐆𝐄
Young people will be able to come over, have an informal conversation, ask questions and talk about issues or concerns in a welcoming environment.

There will be opportunities for conversations around crime and anti-social behaviour, helping young people better understand the consequences of their choices and the support available to them.

There will also be FREE refreshments for children and young people who wish to come along which will be kindly provided by Wakefield Street Kitchen.

We’ll have leaflets and useful information available, alongside people who are there to listen, answer questions, offer advice and signpost young people towards further support where needed.

Prevention and early intervention matter. By getting out into our communities, building relationships and having conversations with young people, we want to provide information, encouragement and positive engagement at the right time.
