π Our Lending Library is officially open π
We have recycled an old fridge and our very talented Emily has painted and designed it.
Feel free to borrow a book or swap one of your pre-loved books for one of ours.
We want all of our children to have a lifelong love of reading and we hope you can share many lovely stories at home with your little ones.
Reading is a big part of our curriculum, we have key texts for each age group which reflect the seasons, cultural celebrations and significant events, helping children make meaningful connections between stories and the world around them. By providing rich reading experiences at nursery and through our Lending Library, we hope to inspire every child to love reading π₯°
Our youngest New Moons enjoyed a lovely nature walk in our wild garden where they explored the outdoor environment using their senses. They listened to different sounds, looked at the trees and flowers, and experienced the fresh air, helping to support their curiosity and early learning development. The babies also enjoyed visiting our chickens and guinea pigs, showing excitement and interest as they observed and interacted with the animals. These experiences help to build confidence, communication skills, and an understanding of the natural world around them.

Our bespoke curriculum is underpinned by our nursery motto: Grow, Explore, Respect. We believe every child should be nurtured to grow in confidence, independence, and resilience within a safe and caring environment. Through meaningful experiences and hands-on learning, children are encouraged to explore the world around them with curiosity, creativity, and wonder. We also place great importance on respect, for ourselves, for others, and for the environment, helping children to develop kindness, empathy, and positive relationships that will support them throughout their lives. We have put our beautiful plaque up in the heart of our nursery, the kitchen β€οΈ
We have had a wonderful week enjoying the sunshine π
The children were so excited when the ice cream van arrived on Thursday. They chose their favourite ice creams and enjoyed them in the garden with their friends. To help everyone stay cool, the children then had a pool party where they splashed, played water games, and laughed all afternoon. It was lovely to see the children having so much fun outdoors while building friendships and enjoying the sunshine π

Yesterday, some of the children dined alfrescoβ¦.what a beautiful lunch time it was! The children were so excited to go into the wild garden for an adventure. They sat so wonderfully in the shade, the grass brushing against their legs, listening to the sounds of nature π¦ π¦ββ¬

The New Moons celebrated World Bee Day in many different ways π
We started off by reading our βThatβs not my bee bookβ and the interest started there. We of course, had to dress up and pretend to be bees! We made our very own bees with a mixture of black and yellow materials to represent the stripes. Throughout this activity, we spoke about the colours of bees, what they might feel like and how we need to be kind to them. We sang songs about bees, which of course led to lots of dancing! To end the week, we explored some yellow gloop, which represented honey. We then spoke about how bees give us yummy honey. The children loved feeling the texture and watching it be poured. They developed their fine motor skills during this activity and also worked towards our curriculum goal of showing kindness to living creatures π

In the Half Moon Room this week the children have been learning about bees for World Bee Day.
They crafted their own bee pictures and made their own bee structures using playdough and wooden sticks. The children used bee ornaments to discuss and understand what bees look like. We spoke about their marks and colours, the noise that they make, how many legs they have, and even why they have antenna on their heads!
We read books on why we need bees in the world, how they help the environment and how they make lots of yummy honey!
We decided to make our own honey in the water tray, where children mixed and poured, exploring their senses of touch and smell with real flowers π π

What a wonderful Wednesday!
We took our Full Moons to our Wild Moon area for their first Wild Passport session. As today is World Bee Day π we read a story about why bees are so important. We learnt about pollen, nectar, and bees wax. The children then melted some bees wax on the fire. They were fascinated when it turned into liquid. They then carefully poured it into their own moulds to create a candle. We waited for it to set and the finished product was amazing! So much learning in one fun outdoor session! Well done Full Moons π
