September is our 'rest' month 🤣🤣🤣

We don't have our monthly meeting, but thats not to say there's nothing happening.

We still have our coffee morning, our monthly walk and supper club. And the Committee still meet up to plan for coming events - Christmas outing, upcoming Fashion Show (see previous post) and the monthly meetings still to come.

If you would like to join us, our next meeting is on Thursday, 15 October. Starts at 7pm (doors open from 6.30). St Mary's Catholic Church Hall, Styebank Lane. You can be sure of a friendly welcome!

For more info, just drop me a message and I'll get back to you soon.

What a great meeting we had on Thursday!

Our speakers were Kevin Sharpe & Stan Hardy - two of the Kings Deputy Lord Lieutenants.

They were not only very interesting and entertaining but didn't shy away from answering questions about 'current events'.

I dont think any of us knew the amount of work involved and enjoyed hearing about some entertaining episodes when looking after the Royal Family.

I think they may get asked back!

We had a great turnout and a record 6 guests, all of whom said how enjoyable the evening had been and said they would be joining in April.

Our next meeting is 19th March abd its our AGM. Time to celebrate our year ending and look forward to what's in store during the coming year.

If you would like to come along as a guest, please do. Our AGM's are always lovely social events and you'd be made very welcome.

Did you know it's the National Year of reading? Did you also know that we have a book group called the Rhubarb Tarts book chatters? We meet monthly to share our views and to celebrate the National Year of Reading we thought we'd share our views with you. We are currently reading It's all Greek to me by Andrea Christodoulou, look out for our review towards the end of the month. Let us know if you've read it and tell us what you thought of it, looking for suggestions for a good book? Just ask? Or have a recommendation for us please let us know. In the meantime we hope you're enjoying a good book 📖 😀

Hello everyone

Just a bit of an update about what we've been up to.

I think we all feel a bit down in January/February after the build up to Christmas and New Year. Once the festivities are over, everything goes a bit flat doesnt it, unless of course you have a holiday booked - lucky you!

At RRTWI, our members have joined together to beat those post Christmas blues. Besides our monthly meeting at St Mary's (a much enjoyed Quiz Night) we've had a busy few weeks. Supper Club at Pemberley's on Walefield Road - a really good night with good food and service and one to re-visit in the future. We also had afternoon tea in the library at Oulton Hall and this week, we'll be gathering for our monthly Coffee morning at Salute. Always a nice get-together for a good natter. And to shed all the extra pounds, we have our monthly walk coming up, followed by lunch at Salute (a popular venue for us). I mustn't forget our Book Club who meet monthly to discuss all things literature, have a good laugh and a bite to eat.

Whoever said the WI was all Jam & Jerusalem, hasn't had a month with Rothwell Rhubarb Tarts!

Our next meeting is on 19 February, when 2 of the King's Deputy Lord Lieutenants will be joining us, to tell us about the work they do and their involvement with the Royal family. I've promised them cake, so I'd better get the recipe books out!

If you'd like to come along to a meeting as a guest, the charge is £5. You'll be made very welcome! If you want more info, please do get in touch.

A very happy weekend to you all!

June
