Our English students visited the Battle of Britain Bunker in Uxbridge 🇬🇧
A brilliant way to explore local history while practising authentic English, as students discussed wartime events and shared their reactions on-site. A memorable learning experience both in and out of the classroom!

Congratulations to all Brunel Modern Language students for passing the 2025/26 Language Course (British Sign Language, Arabic, French, German, Italian, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish and Russian).

A huge thanks to Pascale McFadden, (Head of Modern Languages) for her exceptional efforts in organising these courses which are free of charge to current Brunel students.

🌸✨ Celebrating the Spring New Year with Chinese Calligraphy! ✨🌸

Last week, our ML students welcomed the Spring New Year with a hands-on Chinese calligraphy workshop here at the Language Centre! ✍️🧧

Led by our wonderful Chinese language teacher Helen Wang, participants learned how to write traditional characters for luck, happiness, and new beginnings. Students explored brush techniques, cultural symbolism, and the beauty of this centuries-old art form — and took home their own calligraphy as a keepsake.

Happy Lunar New Year! 🎉🐍 Wishing everyone joy, prosperity, and good fortune as we welcome the Year of the Snake.

If you're in London and looking to join the celebrations, the main festivities are happening on Sunday, 2 February 2025. The day kicks off with a vibrant parade featuring colourful floats and the largest gathering of Chinese lions and dragons in Europe. The parade starts at 10am from the east corner of Trafalgar Square, proceeds along Charing Cross Road, and winds through Chinatown. https://www.visitlondon.com/things-to-do/event/4733685-chinese-new-year-in-london

After the parade, Trafalgar Square will host stage performances, including traditional dragon and flying lion dances, Chinese music and dance shows, and martial arts displays. There will also be arts and crafts stalls, festive stands, and street food vendors offering a taste of the Far East.
