⚽️ What a fantastic idea from Royal Mail!⚽️

Opportunities like this give children a genuine reason to read, write and be creative.

I love seeing literacy linked to children’s interests and hobbies, it’s often where the most meaningful learning happens.

As a bonus, your child could win £1,500 worth of sports kit for their school.

Take a look at the original post below for all the details. ⚽✉️

Children aged 4-17 can cheer on England this summer by sending letters of support for a chance to win £1,500 in sports kit for their school or sports club. ✉️⚽

☀️ Hello, July! 🌻

Summer is here, but learning doesn’t have to stop.

A little support over the summer can help prevent the summer slide, build confidence, and ensure your child starts the new academic year feeling positive and prepared.

I have limited summer holiday appointments available for:
📚 1:1 Specialist Literacy & Dyslexia Support
🔎 Dyslexia Screening
📖 Phonics & Reading Confidence Sessions

Whether your child has struggled this year, is awaiting assessment, or would simply benefit from a confidence boost before September, summer is the perfect opportunity to work at their pace in a calm, supportive environment.

📅 Availability is limited throughout the summer holidays.

📩 Please get in touch for more information or to book your session.

Many parents with children starting Reception in September or those who have children of Reception age who are homeschooling may be starting to think about phonics.

One simple thing that really helps is knowing that, in phonics, children learn the sound a letter makes, not the letter name.
For example, for the letter m, we say mmm rather than em.
It also helps to keep sounds short and clear, without adding an extra “uh” at the end.

So we want:
s not suh
t not tuh
p not puh

This makes it much easier when children start putting sounds together to read words.

For example:
s - a - t becomes sat

A small tip, but one that can really help when your child is starting to learn to read.

This video is a helpful starting point if you’re unsure how the sounds should be pronounced:

This video shares phase two phonics sounds, concentrating on the pr...

Every day is a school day.

This evening I’m working through my Elklan Level 3 training, continuing to develop my knowledge of speech, language and communication needs.

The more I learn, the better I can support the children and families I work with through ClearMind Learning.

Learning never stops. 💚

I’m really pleased to share that the first ClearMind Parent Guide is now available.

A Parent’s Guide to Dyslexia is a calm, practical digital guide for parents and carers who want to better understand dyslexia, possible signs, support options and next steps.

I created this for families who may be noticing difficulties with reading, spelling, writing or learning confidence, and want somewhere clear and reassuring to start.

Inside, it covers:
💚What dyslexia is
💚Signs of dyslexia across different ages
💚 What to do if you’re concerned
💚 Screening vs assessment
💚Support options
💚Supporting your child at home
💚Clear next steps

It’s written in parent-friendly language and is designed to help families feel more informed, reassured and confident about moving forward.

Now available as a digital download on Etsy for an introductory price of £4.95. Click the link below ⬇️

Hello and welcome to the new faces who have recently joined ClearMind Learning. 👋

I’m Sarah, founder of ClearMind Learning.

I’m a qualified primary teacher, a British Dyslexia Association Accredited Teacher, and I’m currently continuing my specialist training through a Master’s in dyslexia and a Level 3 Speech and Language course.

ClearMind was created because I believe children learn best when they feel understood, supported and successful. As someone who is dyslexic myself, I know how powerful the right support can be.

I work with children and families across Trafford and Greater Manchester, providing specialist support for:
📚 Dyslexia
✏️ Reading and spelling
🔤 Phonics
📝 Writing and literacy difficulties
🧠 Learning confidence and study skills

Sessions take place in the ClearMind Classroom, in schools, or online depending on a child’s needs.

When I’m not teaching, you’ll usually find me spending time with my family, studying or planning the next step in ClearMind’s journey.

Thank you for following along. I’d love to know where you’ve found ClearMind from.

If your child finds reading or spelling difficult, simply looking at a word repeatedly isn’t always enough.

Children with dyslexia often benefit from a multisensory approach, where they can:

💚See the word
💚 Hear the sounds
💚Say the sounds aloud
💚 Physically build or write the word

For example, instead of asking a child to copy train five times, try building it with magnetic letters, saying each sound as they move the letters into place.

Learning becomes more memorable when multiple senses are activated. Our brains develop pathways.

What’s your child’s favourite way to practise words at home?
