Oakfields Preparatory School We are a happy and vibrant Independent day school in Upminster, offering a tailor-made, holistic education for children aged 2-11.

Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions you will ever have to make. At Oakfields you can be assured that the school will provide the best education for your child through both practical and life experience. Each pupil has a positive identity and is a valued member of the school community. The staff work tirelessly for the children and enjoy an excellent home-school partnership with parents. The stimulating, supportive atmosphere of the School encourages confidence, enthusiasm for learning and consideration for others. We place a strong emphasis on good manners and thoughtfulness, developing life skills of social confidence and making friends as well as the ability to learn, use information technology, solve problems and make sensible judgements. With the benefit of small classes each pupil can receive individual attention, while at the same time being part of a lively outward-looking school community. We welcome all faiths and celebrate all faith festivals. We consider our morning assemblies to be an integral part of school life as they present moral and topical themes in a simple and meaningful way. We recognise that your child's progress is intrinsically affected by the attitudes, ethos and expectations of the learning environment.

What a fantastic day at the U11 Blenheim Football Championships! ⚽️

Our U11 footballers loved the chance to get out on the pitch, play some great football and represent Oakfields with real enthusiasm and spirit. 💙

It was also a brilliant opportunity to come together with pupils from across Blenheim Schools, enjoying some friendly competition and strengthening the connections that make being part of the wider Blenheim community so special.

We couldn’t be more proud of our team and the way they supported one another throughout the day. A huge well done to everyone who took part, and thank you to Duncombe School for organising!

Exciting things are happening at Oakfields!✨

Next week, our Year 6 pupils will be heading to Upminster Park to carry out an environmental investigation as part of the Oakfields Nature and Geography Programme (ONGP). Their findings will help inspire an exciting poster competition launching soon at school, with selected winning designs having the opportunity to be displayed officially in Upminster Park!

Meanwhile, our Year 4 pupils will be rolling up their sleeves and helping to care for their local environment through a community litter-picking project in partnership with Friends of Upminster Park.

We are incredibly proud to be working alongside local volunteers to help our children connect with nature, contribute to their community and become environmental champions for the future.

Photos from both events coming soon!💙

There’s a new gnome in town… and he needs a name! 🌿🍄

Thanks to the creativity and kindness of Mr Booth and Mrs Arnold, we have welcomed a very special new resident: our very own Oakfields Gnome!

To celebrate our growing Oakfields Nature and Geography Programme (ONGP), every class from EYFS to Year 6 is joining a naming competition. We’re looking for imaginative names inspired by Planet Oak, wildlife, sustainability and outdoor adventures — with gnome puns very much encouraged! 🌍💚

Each class will submit one name by Friday morning, with the winner revealed in Friday’s assembly. The prize? An extra Forest School/ONGP session for the winning class! 🌳

Let the naming begin — there’s gnome limit to our children’s creativity! ✨

We’ve achieved Gold! 🏅🚶‍♀️🚲

We’re proud to have been awarded Gold accreditation through TfL’s Travel for Life programme - its highest accreditation level!

This celebrates our commitment to making journeys to school safer, more active and more sustainable. 🌿

Thank you to our children, families and staff for every walk, cycle and thoughtful travel choice. You’ve all played a part in this achievement! 💛

On Friday, we hosted our annual Macmillan Coffee Morning, raising valuable funds for this wonderful charity.

A huge thank you to Mrs Sims for coordinating the event, to our parent helpers, and to all the staff and families who kindly donated cakes and refreshments. We are also grateful to everyone who came along to support the morning and help make it such a success. In addition, the school was a sea of green as pupils and staff took part in a non-uniform day, wearing green to further support our fundraising efforts.

Thank you to everyone for their generosity and support in helping us contribute to this important cause.

The planters at Little Oaks Farm are in use, and our pupils are getting stuck in. 🌱

As part of our new Nature and Geography Programme, pupils are now using Little Oaks Farm to grow their own fruit and veg. From Nursery to Year 6, they’re discovering where food comes from, why sustainability matters and what it takes to care for something over time.

Our Eco-Committee and three Year 6 Eco Leaders are looking after the planters, checking the soil and keeping the plants watered. Younger pupils are building their fine motor skills as they learn to use tools safely, while older pupils are becoming “land managers” and exploring food miles by comparing local and imported produce.

It’s lovely to see pupils taking responsibility, learning with their hands and watching the results of their care grow overtime. 🥕💚
