Yesterday, our Year 4 – 6 pupils gathered for a heartwarming assembly with Mrs Yates, sharing fond memories of Mrs Sadgrove who sadly passed away last week.

From her passion for gardening, growing and colourful flowers to the creative crafts made at After School Club - including her legendary scarecrows - her cheerful spirit was celebrated by all.

Inspired, the children joined Mrs Yates in creating beautiful flowerpots, now brightening up the front of school. Year 6 pupils are even using their breaks to clear planters on the playground, ready for a burst of new flowers and colour.

Mrs Sadgrove will always have a special place in our hearts, and as a school, we’re committed to keeping her joyful legacy alive - by sharing stories and creating new memories together.

If you have any memories of Mrs Sadgrove we would love to hear them.

💚 Nursery 💚

In nursery, we have got busy planting this week following our text, Jack and the Beanstalk! We have planted our own sunflower seeds, and are starting to create our own observation journals to see how tall they grow over the next 6 weeks!

As the sunshine was out, we also decided to put our green thumbs to use and do some planting outside in our garden. We made sure to w**d, rake, add fresh compost and plant some new seeds!

The children are very excited to see how our plants start to grow, and will be making sure to look after them and keep them watered.

🌟 Today’s Assembly Y2 and 3 Winning & Losing -Our Reactions

This morning, our children explored a really important theme: how we react when we win and when we lose.

We shared a story about two friends playing a game and talked about how their reactions affected each other’s feelings. The children had brilliant discussions about kindness, fairness, and empathy.

✨ Our key messages were:
-Everyone wins and loses sometimes
-It’s okay to feel proud, disappointed or frustrated
-What matters most is how we treat others
-A kind winner and a brave loser make games fun for everyone

We also learned a simple tool to help with big feelings:
STOP – BREATHE – SMILE – SPEAK KINDLY

The children enjoyed a fun role‑play activity where they showed what a kind winner and a brave loser might look like - lots of great ideas and teamwork!

💬 We ended by asking: “What’s one thing you could do today to be a kind winner or a brave loser?”
We’re very proud of how thoughtful the children were. ❤️

💚 Nursery 💚

This week in nursery we’ve been getting very creative! We used our water tray to practise subitising to 5 with frogs, explored some exciting goop made from cornflour and water, and used our imaginations during role play. We also got crafty making pop-up Mother’s Day cards!

It’s been a wonderful week in nursery, and we hope you all have a lovely Mother’s Day on Sunday. We’ve reminded the children to treat their mummies to breakfast in bed and a nice lie-in!

See you on Monday! 😊
